NewLife Anglican : Oran Park

NewLife Anglican : Oran Park Get in contact - we'd love to start a conversation.. Come and join us, whether you know Jesus already - or would like to start the journey.

NewLife is the name we've chosen to speak of the fresh start that Jesus offers, the gathering of His people who are located in Oran Park, and the hope we're keen to breathe into everything we do. We've started a brand new church and are really keen to connect with people who are considering God's place in their lives as well as believers in Sydney who are ready to think again about God's call to m

ake disciples of all nations. We are meeting at our new building Cnr Central Avenue & Marcus Loane Way 9:30am on a Sunday morning and are praying that God will cause our fellowship to grow one transformed life at a time. Please 'friend' or 'like' us on Facebook to stay in touch;

Hey NewLife family, two things for tomorrow:

1) September starts on Tuesday and we have a brand new reading plan for the month. Find it attached!

2) Tomorrow is also the start of this month’s Jesus for the Curious Course. It runs for four weeks on a Tuesday night up at the church from 6:30-8pm. Who’s welcome? Those who have questions. Those who have doubts. Those who have mates who have either of those things!

Enjoy reading and I hope to catch you up at the church.

Grace and peace,

Stuart.

We’re looking forward to having Rev Mark Gilbert join us for a shared training evening as we think about what some of the distinctives of Catholicism are and how to best share with our Catholic neighbours. We look forward to being joined by others from local churches.

Growing up as a committed Roman Catholic, Mark Gilbert first heard the Gospel at university in 1997. After completing Medicine and working as a GP he completed a B.Div at MTC in 2006 and is an ordained Deacon in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney where he works for Evangelism Ministries, Certainty4Eternity, and for his local Church in Manly where he serves as an evangelist and trainer.

Mark partners with churches, trains evangelists and produces resources to help Christians with their Evangelism and Discipleship of people with a Roman Catholic Background. Mark is also a founding member and Faculty of the Rome Scholars and Leaders Network and speaks nationally and internationally on Roman Catholicism.

Some of his publications include: The God who Saves, The Road Once Travelled, Stepping out in Faith, and Talking with Catholics about Jesus. All available from Matthias Media.

We look forward to seeing you at church at 7:30pm Wednesday 25th August.

Grace and peace,

Stuart.

Exciting news! It's great seeing our suburb keep expanding and we know there's need for more places as we see Oran Park Public and Barramurra Public bulging at the seams alongside the full primary at Oran Park Anglican College.

Please join us in praying for the work to go ahead in a timely manner and for God to appoint the right person to lead what will be a vital part of our local community.

Grace and peace,

Stuart & the team.

Yesterday we had the privilege of celebrating the retirement of Steve Davis from our staff team. After 47 years of faithful service across at least 6 Parishes Steve takes this step with the full support of Ros and with our prayers and blessings for what’s next.

Throughout his time with us Steve has showed himself to be prayerful, humble, thoughtful, deeply read, deeply devoted to people, and above all deeply committed to His ever faithful Lord Jesus. Across all three services we heard Steve and Ros give testimony to God’s goodness and sustaining grace across the decades and through the depths and heights of a life lived in devoted service.

It’s been wonderful having Steve as part of our team from 2020 and we are thankful he and Ros will continue as part of our church family. I’m sure you’ll join me in praying these words over their next steps;

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.“(Romans 12:11-13 NIV11)

Hey NewLife family and friends,

Advice from our Sydney Anglican leaders is to make an effort to mark your religion in the Census as Anglican.

Although at first this might sound counter-intuitive Bishop Stead explains;

“We've encouraged people to think of their primary identity as in Christ, not as Anglican,” he said. “That's true, but when it comes to the Census, it's important to know how many Anglican Christians there are, because that headline number is used by the government, as it thinks about things like hospital chaplaincy funding and school ministries and aged care provision and things like that.

“So to have an accurate measure of the number of people who identify as Anglican Christians, it is important for people to tick the Anglican box.”

Read the greatest letter ever written - twice!

That's the encouragement this August as we embark on reading through Paul's letter to the church in Rome one chapter a day.

Grab your copy and follow the instructions - pray, read, and reflect. You might even find that what you read needs to be shared with those around you!

Download the PDF here: https://bit.ly/3REI55L

I look forward to embarking on this journey with you starting August 1st.

Grace and peace,

Stuart.
