I prayed for you today thanking God for these words in 2 Corinthians 5:7,
"We live by faith, not by sight"
This is a great gift, and a wonderful encouragement.
1. It's a gift;
* I have faith in God - and that's made possible because of the life, death, grace and forgiveness of the One who was faithful for us.
* I can live by that faith - faith is not some ephemeral thing, it's not like the Star Wars force. Faith is real, it's tangible, it makes a substantive and significant difference to life. Faith changes the way I live, my decisions, my ambitions, the way I think about where I am at any moment, and the way I see the person/people in front of me at any moment. Faith changes everything.
2. It's an encouragement;
* I don't have to live by just sight alone. Because sight alone can be devastating, heart breaking, and hope erasing. Sometime what I see can overwhelm me - brokenness, suffering, sadness, sickness, and a world suffocating under pressures, demands, anxieties and cruelty. Sure, there is light, but there is also a great deal of darkness.
* Faith doesn't erase what I see, but it does encourage me that I'm not alone in the darkness. Faith gifts me with hope. It reminds me that I don't only live in the world I see - I also live in the yet unseen world to come.
And so do you!
