SERVE THE YOUTH FROM HOME OPPORTUNITY
Dear members of the Heidelberg Stake,
As you may be aware, our stake is excited to host a Trek for youth ages 13/14-18yrs in September of this year (see poster attached). It is our hope that all eligible youth will be eager to participate and benefit from this unique and deeply spiritual activity!
We are currently aiming to involve youth from regional areas to combine with us and bolster the number of youth in attendance, including youth from the Northern Territory District. For this to be possible they are proposing that we provide billeting for their youth and leaders to accommodate their travel from interstate before and after trek, and enable a visit to the temple in addition to trek.
We are looking for expressions of interest from members who are willing to host youth and/or leaders for 1-2 nights during the week of the 21st-26th September 2026. While exact details cannot be provided at this time this is an idea of the potential schedule:
Monday 21st September - Darwin youth and leaders arrive in Melbourne and stay at billets overnight
Tuesday 22nd September - All youth travel to trek site for the beginning of trek
Friday 25th September - Trek concludes and all youth return home, Darwin youth and leaders to stay at billets overnight
Saturday 26th September - Darwin youth to attend temple and depart Melbourne
Transport between billets and activities is also yet to be confirmed, so if you have capacity to drive youth and/or leaders between your home and the Heidelberg Stake Centre and/or the Temple on these days please let us know.
To accept billeting in your home there must be two adults who are related, of the same gender or married who are present (or an additional youth leader/s to ensure there are 2 adults) and you must be able to take a minimum of 2 youth. All adults must have a current Victorian Working With Children Check (volunteer status or other).
There are approximately 20-30 youth plus leaders who may attend from the Northern Territory District and we are hopeful we can accommodate all of them within our stake and help these regional youth access a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend Trek with us.
If you would be willing to billet for any of these dates, even if it is just one night, please let us know by responding to this email by the 24th May and let us know how many you could potentially host! This does not immediately lock you in but will enable us to organise further details and reach out to you closer to September to confirm all arrangements. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
