// ANSWERS FROM THE BIBLE //

While canvassing in Fiji, Junior met a young woman who worked in housekeeping and was just finishing her shift. He asked if anyone was home, and she mentioned that an elderly woman was inside.

When this woman came to the door, she asked Junior what he wanted. He politely explained that he was sharing and selling Christian books.

Curious, she asked what kind of books he had. At that moment, he happened to be holding Bible Readings for the Home. She asked him to explain what the book was about.

Thankful for this opportunity, Junior told her that the book provided answers to important questions from the Bible. As he explained its purpose and value, the woman listened attentively.

“I’ll buy this one,” she said when he had finished speaking. “I want to know answers from the Bible.”

Although it was the only book Junior sold that day, it became a reminder that success is not always measured by numbers. One sincere conversation, one interested soul, and one person seeking Bible truth made the day a meaningful and rewarding experience.

"Youth Rush has helped me gain confidence in telling others about the gospel and has allowed me to make lifelong friends who share the same enthusiasm for God's word. I want to go to Fiji not only to experience a new culture, but also to meet new people and encourage the youth to bring God's light into the lives of those around them." - Chelsea

// PROVIDED FOR A PURPOSE //

During a Youth Rush program in New South Wales, the team went to a town called Ulmarra, approximately 15 minutes away from Grafton.

Lucia and Moira went to a local bookstore to begin canvassing. As Lucia spoke with Harley to organise their approach, a man stepped forward, curious about what they were doing. He asked if he could take a look.

Lucia handed him the canvassing materials, and his attention was quickly drawn to Foods that Heal. Without hesitation, he offered them all the money he had on him. Although it wasn’t much, his willingness to give touched Lucia deeply.

Sensing a spiritual openness, Lucia gently asked if she could pray with him before they left.

At that invitation, the man began to share his story. He revealed that he had brain cancer and was preparing for an upcoming surgery for his eyes. It was evident that this was weighing heavily on him.

Lucia listened with compassion and prayed specifically for his needs. When the prayer ended, the man expressed profound gratitude. He repeated how fortunate he felt to have met them.

Earlier that week, Lucia had received an unusual number of donations but had not distributed many books. In that moment, she felt impressed that those resources had been provided for a purpose. Trusting that prompting, she offered him The Great Controversy as a gift. He received it with heartfelt appreciation.

Even before they had started canvassing, God had organised a divine appointment.

Effervescent Christianity
Good morning my Literature Evangelist friends (and others)! The beginning of a new week is upon us again already and it’s time get that attractive, bubbly personality back in gear as we prepare to meet those who desperately need a knowledge of Jesus, our Friend and Saviour!
When we use the word ‘effervescent’ we are usually referring to something that has bubbles, like a sparkling cider, but if you have a happy, cheerful personality — if you are "bubbly" — YOU TOO are effervescent! As such you have a much greater chance of attracting and holding the attention of those you’d like to lead to a closer walk with Jesus through your work.
Coupled with an earnest desire to place soul-saving materials in their hands, effervescence will lead to greater success in the work that you are called to do in the week ahead!
That’s the way I want to press ahead in my ancient old life again today, how about you!?
Have a great week!
Pastor Barry Satchell

Ahh! MOTHERS!
Those who have good mothers that they can love or even clearly remember, are fortunate indeed today as we celebrate Mother’s Day in the country where I live!
When our God – who IS LOVE - at creation designed the family unit that would be perfect forever on earth, a mother’s love for her children was a huge component of His plan, and I believe it still is to this day. Only the Saviour’s love is better!
No wonder Satan set about to destroy the family unit back in the garden of Eden!
How my five children miss Vera’s ability to express her love or even recognition of them due to her deep dementia now! Only the return of Jesus can restore that ability! And I look forward to meeting the mother I lost when I was just seven years old, if she had taken Jesus as her Saviour and Lord.
The first of the ten commandments of God with a promise attached is to love our father and mother and we would live long lives!
So, happy Mother’s Day to all my friends who are mothers! I hope you have a wonderful day that reminds you of God’s special care for you!
And to my Literature Evangelist friends, recognise again the strong love that motivates a mother to want the very best of reading material for her children of any age!!
Have a great day and a great week is my prayer for you!
Pastor Barry

// NOT A COINCIDENCE //

On the first day of a training outreach in partnership with Casey Church, Patience joined her team leader Sandy for an afternoon of practical canvassing. They prayed for an experience that would especially demonstrate the power of literature ministry.

The early part of the outreach drew on continued prayer and faith. Many homes displayed “Do Not Knock” signs. Other people were either not at home or not interested. A brief, positive interaction with two young men on the street was encouraging, but it seemed like the day might end without a clear answer to their prayer.

With just five minutes remaining, Sandy and Patience crossed the road to visit two final homes. It was there that they met Ryan.

Ryan greeted them warmly. As Patience introduced books about health, Ryan’s response was immediate and deeply personal. He was currently facing a recurrence of a rare cancer and was doing everything possible to fight it. Seeing these materials, particularly those focused on wellbeing and family life, he remarked with emotion, “This is at just the right time.” Throughout the visit, he consistently repeated that he had goosebumps because of the timeliness of their visit.

A single father of two teenage sons, Ryan expressed specific interest in resources that could help him connect with and support his children. As the conversation continued, Sandy gently started to introduce a spiritual book, explaining its emphasis on holistic peace and faith.

Before she could elaborate, Ryan began sharing his own spiritual journey. During one of his hospital visits, he had met a friend who was now encouraging him in his faith. This friend was a Seventh-day Adventist and had given Ryan a small devotional book. He was reading it daily. Ryan spoke openly about how much he was learning, particularly about prayer and surrendering his burdens to God. He said this was profoundly different from his previous experiences with religion.

As Sandy and Patience revealed that they too were Seventh-day Adventists, Ryan’s sense of amazement deepened. He spoke about ongoing conversations with his friend regarding faith and baptism, and the peace he had begun to feel through prayer.

By this time, Ryan was holding the full set of books, visibly moved by what he saw as a clear moment of divine timing. He eagerly said he would contact his friend that evening to share what had happened. The team explained they had prayed for an experience where they could be a blessing to someone, affirming that this encounter was not a coincidence.

Before leaving, Patience offered a heartfelt prayer of gratitude and blessing for Ryan and his family. She and Sandy also invited him and his sons to an upcoming “Jesus Seminar” at Casey Church, where the local pastoral team are connecting with them.

The experience left the team deeply encouraged, especially for Patience as a first-time canvasser. It was a vivid reminder that God prepares hearts in advance and brings people together at just the right time. We praise God for the seeds faithfully sown by Ryan's friend who had already shared so much of her faith and Biblical confidence with him.
