Australian National Census 2026: Your Identity, Our Future
Dear Australian Muslim brothers and sisters,
Assalamu Alaikum wrt.
The Australian National Census is now underway. Providing accurate information is not only a civic responsibility but also an important opportunity to ensure fair representation of the Muslim community in Australia.
Please complete your Census by Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
🌐 Complete your Census here: https://www.abs.gov.au/census
Why is it important?
According to the 2021 Census, there were 813,392 Muslims living in Australia, representing 3.2% of the total population. Islam is now one of Australia's largest religious communities. We hope the 2026 Census will provide an even more accurate picture of our growing community.
The Census data helps governments plan and allocate resources for:
- Education
- Healthcare
- Language services
- Community support
- Infrastructure
- Future policies and funding
If you do not record your religious identity, the true size of the Muslim community will not be reflected in official statistics. This can affect future planning, representation, and the distribution of services.
