The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation falls on 1 September, opening the ecumenical Season of Creation that runs to 4 October, the feast of St Francis of Assisi.

This year Pope Leo XIV's message draws on Isaiah: "They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks." He links the wounds of war directly to the wounds we inflict on the earth, both flowing from a heart that needs renewal.
