This is a final reminder, and invitation, to our annual Christmas carol service this Sunday afternoon, 4pm at our chapel. Come and hear the old story made new, and sing the hymns and carols that we all know and love!

After the service, we will enjoy supper together. There will be tea, coffee and a sausage sizzle!

It is also our last chance to say good-bye to Fritz as he farewells his placement at North Lakes Uniting and prepares to take up the placement at Kawana Waters Uniting next year.

Please remember that there will not be a morning service on Sunday! Come sing, read, laugh and say good-bye with us all at 4pm!

Hi everyone, Fritz here.
Just a quick reminder of, and invitation to some big activities coming up in our church life in the next few weeks:

This Sunday, we celebrate together our birthday morning tea and my conclusion of service at NLUC;

Next Sunday (December 1) is my final communion service at NLUC;

The Sunday after that (December 8) is our afternoon Christmas carols service, followed by a BBQ and final farewell.

You're invited, and it would be great to see you.

This Sunday is going to be big and busy at our chapel!

Firstly, and most importantly, it is Reign Of Christ Sunday, when the church throughout the entire world celebrates together that princes, prime ministers and presidents do not, in fact, rule the world!

Then, we have members of the Moreton Rivers Presbytery joining and leading us as we formally farewell Fritz at the conclusion of his ministry with us (don't worry, he's sticking around for another week or two).

And thirdly, we get to celebrate those members of our church who have their birthdays in the second half of the year. You know the drill: if that's you, bring some cake to church, and let's have a big birthday party!

We all have something to give. You won't find it in your wallet or your banking app. It doesn't run out or depreciate over time. It's the smell of freshly moved grass, of a just-washed car, of home-made jams and good coffee with good people. It's the feeling of sharing some career wisdom or DIY know-how, and of altering a little girl's dress so it fits just right.

It's something you make and make time for, and it's something only you can do, make or give in the way that you do it.

What are you giving? Think and pray about it. Bring it to worship on Sunday 13 October. See it blossom into an outpouring of God's love and joy as we share our gifts together.

"For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes" - I Corinthians 23-26.

We proclaim again, with the apostles and all the church, that which makes us a part of the body of Christ this Sunday, and we hope you'll join us.

We've been dealing with John 6 for five whole weeks (it's the chapter that keeps on giving, just like manna from heaven).

Here, at the end, we face the same choice as the crowds: will we count the cost of Jesus' teaching and find it too exacting, or will we be led by the Spirit to discover the everlasting life?

No-one said it would be easy. Not then, and not now. Don't let that stop you. Come and find "the words of eternal life" with us on Sunday.
