๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ GATHERING OF REMEMBRANCE 2026 ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

Leprena UAICC Tasmania warmly invites you to join us for our Annual Community Gathering of Remembrance at F***y Smithโ€™s Church.

This is a time to come together as community to remember those we love and those we have lost. A time to share stories, honour their lives, hold space for grief and healing, and find strength in Culture, Country and one another.

The afternoon will include Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, Cultural dancers, music and poetry, storytelling and a candle ceremony.

Whether your loss is recent or many years ago, whether you come with a story to share or simply want to sit alongside community, you are welcome.

Every story. Every name. Every memory matters.

UNITING CHURCH FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE!
This September, we're joining Uniting Church congregations nationwide for the Climate Action Network's Month of Action. We are praying, reflecting and calling for a fair transition from fossil fuels that centres Pacific voices ahead of COP31. Uniting Climate

God of compassion and mercy,
We hold before you the people of Nepal following the devastating flash floods in the Bhote Koshi River area.
We grieve with those who have lost loved ones. We pray for the many who are still missing, local people and visitors alike, for families waiting anxiously for news, for those who have been injured or displaced, and for communities facing such immense loss.
Draw near, O God.
Where there is grief, bring comfort.
Where there is fear, bring courage.
Where there is exhaustion, bring strength.
And in these difficult hours of searching and waiting, sustain hope.
We pray for all involved in search and rescue, evacuation, medical care and relief. Protect and strengthen them. Give wisdom to those coordinating the response, and may help reach those who need it most.
Jesus Christ, you entered into the suffering of our world and showed us a love that draws near. Draw near now to the people of Nepal in their suffering.
By your Spirit, weave together communities of care and compassion. Strengthen neighbours supporting one another, families holding one another close, and all who are offering shelter, comfort and hope.
God of life, we entrust to your mercy all who have died. Hold those who mourn. Be near to those still waiting for news. Strengthen all whose lives and livelihoods have been devastated by this disaster, and sustain them through the long journey of recovery.
Hold the people of Nepal in your love โ€”
the love of the crucified and risen Christ,
a love that crosses every boundary,
a love that will not let us go.
Amen.

From 1 September to 4 October, Christians around the world are invited to pray, worship and act for Godโ€™s creation during the Season of Creation.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œLiving Waterโ€, reminds us of Godโ€™s life-giving presence and our shared calling to care for the earth and all who depend on it. Inspired by Ezekielโ€™s vision of the river that brings healing wherever it flows, weโ€™re invited to immerse ourselves in Godโ€™s renewing work and become streams of hope in our communities.

We encourage congregations across the Uniting Church to participate in the Season of Creation through worship, prayer and practical action. Explore the resources available via the link in the Comments.
