A very joyous and uplifting service this morning at St Catherine's Elizabeth Downs. It was a delight to confirm four persons, each of whom had recently been baptised, and to join this warm and generous parish for worship and fellowship afterwards.

One of those confirming her faith in Jesus today was Rebecca, who told Karen and I she had felt for some time there must be more to life and that something was missing. Rebecca was warmly welcomed when she walked in to St Catherine's one Sunday for the first time early this year.

Wonderful to have the opportunity today to be shown around Trinity College (north, south, and senior schools) and St Columba College (a joint Anglican and Roman Catholic school), both in the north of our Diocese, and to have the opportunity to hear from the Principals, student leaders, and our dedicated chaplains and faith leaders, about the vital presence and work of our Anglican schools in these communities.

Karen and I were very warmly welcomed today to Magill parish. In addition to receiving two persons into communicant membership, I preached on Romans 6.1-14, on being dead to sin and alive to Christ, drawing out Paul's appeal in these verses to the meaning of Baptism.

"Do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:3–4).

Celebrating and giving thanks for the ministry of our chaplains, who go out into the community bringing the light of the gospel to all

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ (Matthew 25:35–36).

A wonderful opportunity today to welcome to Bishop's House those involved in the ministry discernment and formation program, together with their families.

It was a very encouraging time of fellowship over a shared lunch, to hear about what God is doing among those present, and to pray for the current, emerging and future leaders of our Diocese.

A Pentecost reflection, on being sent out in the power of the Spirit.

By Archbishop Brad Billings “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1.8).  This is the promise of Jesus, given to his disciples immediately prior to his ascensio...
