Acceptance Sydney wishes you a Happy and Blessed Easter!

May the Risen Christ fill your hearts with everlasting love, deep peace, and renewed hope. In his Resurrection, may each of us be reaffirmed in our dignity, identity and the promise that love always conquers death.

Christ Has Risen! He has Risen as he said!

“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
Matthew 28:1

Today, as we reflect on the Passion, suffering, and death of Jesus, we are reminded of the depth of God’s love—a love that embraces all, especially those pushed to the margins.

On the Cross, Jesus becomes one with the rejected, the silenced, and the shamed. He is betrayed, misunderstood, stripped of dignity, and left to suffer publicly. In this, we see a God who doesn’t remain distant, but who enters fully into the pain and isolation of those rejected and placed on the margins.

Christ doesn’t just stand with the rejected or marginalized—he becomes apart of it. His crucified body tells the truth of what it means to be excluded, and his outstretched arms remain open to all who have ever been told they don't belong.
The Cross is not a place of condemnation, but of radical love and solidarity. It declares: You are not alone. Your suffering is seen. Your dignity is sacred.

May this Good Friday remind us that God's love knows no bounds, and that the path to resurrection begins with the truth of who we are.

" We adore you O Christ and we Bless you! Because of your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world."

Today we enter the most Sacred 3 days of the year beginning with Holy Thursday. Tonight our Church recalls the night Jesus gathered with his friends, offered the first Eucharist, and knelt to wash their feet—a radical act of love, humility, and inclusion.

In a world that so often excludes, Jesus makes space at the table. He kneels before each person, not to judge, but to serve, and offers himself in bread and wine. His love is not limited by status, identity, or labels—it is embodied, vulnerable, and boundless.

Tonight as we enter the Sacred Paschal Triduum, we claim our sacred place at the table. We are not on the margins of God's love—we are at its very heart. In the breaking of bread and the pouring of wine, Christ’s body is given for us, no exceptions and no exclusions.

May we enter the next 3 days with hearts open, knowing the love that God has for each one of us.

Friends, just a gentle reminder that there will be no Mass this Friday due to Good Friday. Our First Friday Mass will instead be celebrated on Friday, April 10.

As we enter into the most sacred week of our faith, may this Holy Week be a time of grace, reflection, and renewal for you all. Wishing you every blessing during this Holy Season.

Today we begin the most sacred week of the year—Holy Week—with Palm Sunday. As Jesus enters Jerusalem to cries of Hosanna, we are reminded of the joy and pain that can exist side by side for these cries of Hosanna will turn into “Crucify him!”.

For the LGBTQIA+ community, this week speaks to our own journey—moments of celebration followed by exclusion, yet always grounded in a love that will not let us go.

As we walk this Holy Week, may we see ourselves in the story of Jesus: courageous, compassionate, and beloved. The road may lead to the cross, but it never ends there. Resurrection is coming—and it includes all of us.

On this Feast of the Annunciation, we are reminded that, like Mary, God calls each of us—no matter who we are,—to play our unique role in God's plan. Mary's courageous "Yes!" speaks to the power of embracing who we are and stepping forward in faith. May we be like Mary in saying "Yes" and playing our part with a open heart in God's plan.

🌈🎉 Wishing you all a Happy Mardi Gras from Acceptance Sydney!

As we celebrate may we be reminded of God’s glorious love—that each of us is wonderfully made, and beautifully unique in God's image and likeness. Today, we also honour those brave trailblazers of the first Mardi Gras in 1978, whose courage paved the way for the acceptance and freedom we cherish today. We also give thanks to the first members of Acceptance, whose faith and dream in 1973 paved the way for us to live our truth and faith openly and authentically.

🌈 Acceptance Sydney’s Mardi Gras story began in 1973 — five years before the first Mardi Gras protest took to the streets of Sydney in 1978.

From the courageous vision of our founder, the late Garry Pyne, a small group of LGBTQIA+ Catholics gathered on the steps of Sydney Town Hall, believing it was possible to live both their truth and their faith.

✨ We were there at the very first Mardi Gras protest in 1978 — standing in hope, in defiance, and in faith.
Fifty-three years later, that same vision continues. We remain committed to our mission:
“Live Our Lives and Live Our Faith.”

🙏 Join us tomorrow night at 7pm at St Joseph’s, Newtown for one of our most cherished celebrations — Our Mass before Mardi Gras.

Together we will gather:
❤️ To celebrate
💛 To give thanks
💚 To remember those who have gone before us — whose humble courage created a sacred and safe space for LGBTQIA+ Catholics for over 50 years.

Their legacy lives on in us.

Come and be part of the story. 🌈✨

Together, let us gather in prayer and thanksgiving for the gift of our lives, the blessing of our faith, and the love we have welcomed and shared in our Sydney community for over 50 years since the first ever Mardi Gras — united as one at this special celebration. 🙏💖

On this Ash Wednesday as we embark on our Lenten journey, may we embrace the invitation to encounter and dwell in the very source of Love—Love that affirms, includes, and celebrates the fullness of who we are. This sacred season, marked by the imposition of ashes, calls us to seek and know the depths of God's love.

May this season of Lent deepen our awareness of God’s boundless and unconditional love—a love that embraces every identity, every story, and every heart.
