Newcastle Traditional Latin Mass Society

Newcastle Traditional Latin Mass Society The official apostolate of the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, for the greater glory of Almighty God.

Established in 2010, we consist of a group of lay faithful who formed an organising committee to promote the worship of God according to the classical rites of worship that in their present form date right back to Pope Saint Gregory the Great in AD590 - 604. Saint Gregory the Great not only reformed the liturgy into its present form but according to legend, he is credited with instituting the be

autiful music which adorns the Mass even until today. These Gregorian chants the saintly pope is believed to have received under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Our organisation is established under canon law with appropriate ecclesiastical approbation. As an associated formed under the Church's Code of Canon Law we happily operate with under the Holy See in union with our Bishop and the Magisterium of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. We would also like to acknowledge our appreciation to the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI for his role in making the more ancient usage of the Roman Rite (usus antiquior) more available to the greater Catholic community in his 2007 document published Motu Proprio entitled Summorum Pontificum. It was Pope Benedict XVI, who through this ecclesiastical legislation both inspired and enabled the Newcastle Traditional Latin Mass Society to be established. As His Holiness wrote in 2007: "What was holy once, cannot be unholy now" and so the traditional rites of the Roman Catholic Church are still available as a source of ediciation for the Catholic faithful across the world. We thank our Bishop also for his generosity towards our community, and especially in granting us the use of one of the oldest Churches in his diocese and also occasional use of his Cathedral Church for some of our traditional Masses.

Finally, some good news. As a result of constant petitions to the Diocese to find a chaplain to offer a regular Sunday Mass, the Diocese has invited the FSSP to take on a Sunday Mass apostolate in the Diocese. There will be a meeting at the Diocesan offices next to the Sacred Heart Cathedral, at 841 Hunter St, Newcastle West, tomorrow (24 July 2024) at 5:30pm. The meeting is in the Toohey room. Please enter via the doors closest to the Cathedral. I encourage as many of you who are able to attend to do so. Representatives of the Diocese as well as the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP) will be present. This is a positive development for the diocese and I encourage you to do everything you can to support it and ensure it succeeds.

October is here! The Month of the Holy Rosary!

Our Lady appeared to St. Dominic in 1206 after he had been praying and doing severe penances because of his lack of success in combating the Albigensian heresy. Mary praised him for his valiant fight against the heretics and then gave him the Rosary as a mighty weapon, she explained its uses and efficacy, and told him to preach it to others.

The Rosary is Our Weapon against all evil it's uses and graces are endless, Our Lady of Fatima Requested that we say at least one Rosary per day and to pray for the suffering souls in Purgatory.

REVIEW OF THE NEW FATIMA FILM.

Recently I had the privilege to watch the new Fatima movie. Personally, I felt Our Lady could have been depicted with a more reverence, with a veil as the seers described her veil as being long. In the film her veil seems short and the Rosary is small but nevertheless it is still elegant.

Overall I thought this was a well produced film detailing the events of Our Lady's apparitions to the three shepherd children, it stays true to the Messages of Our Lady . The link I've attached is to the full movie on YouTube for your convenience, it is free as well.

"Say the Rosary everyday to obtain peace".
