The purpose of the "Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle: Youth Ministry" page is to provide a place for young people to engage with a local Catholic community and to advertise events in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. page are encouraged to post comments and questions about posts but should remember that this is an online discussion moderated by the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. Moderators will be guided by the principle that “online or offline, respect for human dignity rules” (“Social Networking Protocol for the Catholic Church in Australia”, 2009). Comments left on this page do not necessarily reflect the views of the DCMYP, the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle or its Bishop, the Most Reverend Bill Wright. Comments that may be deleted (and their authors banned) include those that contain:
• Vulgar language;
• Personal attacks/inflammatory remarks against a person or group;
• Comments that breach personal privacy;
• Content/comments off topic;
• Spam;
• Links to sites that contain offensive material or attack the Church and its mission;

This week we celebrate and thank Deacon Gerard for his years of service in ministry to Hunter Correctional Centre.

He is making an exciting transition to the University of Newcastle as our Catholic Chaplain with the Mission & Evangelisation team.

Applications are now open to continue his good work at the prison.
