Yesterday we farewelled a legend at your Corps. Into her eighth year of serving the Derwent Valley community - Penny has decided to hang up her shield … for now.

There were some tears, but mainly there was family and gratitude 🙏 Through the devastation of the coronavirus, and several years of mourning the loss of our beloved Corps Officers - Tim and Di - Penny and the team have stayed strong 💪

We know that love rarely happens in “ideal” circumstances, and Penny accepted this with optimism and with an unwavering sense of duty.

It says a lot that the rest of the team immediately offered to give even more in Penny’s absence. They embody “giving recklessly” and we strengthen each other.

In the meantime, Penny will be around, off-the-clock; but her sunny ☀️ disposition will remain free … to be continued.
