"The Christian walk is a process of God stripping away your idols" - Timothy Keller. John, a member from our church family shared his wisdom on work, idols, boundaries and faith and how they intersect.

John's Interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdV6cAD9PCk

As we heard on Sunday, God has called us to work and rest for his glory and the good of others. But practically, what does it look like to be a Christian in your workplace?

We have asked a number of people at church to share the unique challenges, idols and opportunities of being a Christian in a variety of working environments. Accounting, interior design, paediatrician, high school teacher and the list goes on!

Work & Rest - two things that dictate so much of what we do with our lives!

"Work is not meant to be about fuelling consumption, finding fulfilment or making a name for ourselves. Work is meant to be an engagement with the content of creation, a means of creating communities of care & an engagement in the cause Christ. Rest is the opportunity to enjoy the blessings of all our work."

Lockdown is tough. A global pandemic is a “collective trauma” event. Not everyone will have the same experience or behave the same way, but this time will have a significant impact on some people.

Trauma is defined as an emotional response to a terrible event, which can range from accidents, abuse and war to unexpected job loss or near car accidents. So, we are all impacted by trauma in one way or another. This seminar will help you recognise trauma, how it can impact our behaviour and to better care for yourself and those you love when it does occur.

We’re keen to speak to all our members and give them support, and also encourage you to invite friends, colleagues and family who may also benefit from a discussion on this topic. In a global pandemic, this applies to everyone!

Join us on Monday 13th September at 7.30pm - Check out our website for the link!

🍋🌸It's Action week!! 🍋🌿
On Sunday Luke and Dean inspired us with their ideas on how to love our neighbours! Here's Luke's lemons - inspired by Tilly France. In return they got lemon butter and lemon tarts delivered to say thank you from various neighbour!

What can you do with what you have to connect with those around you?

Some other ideas could be:
- During lockdown, why not invite your neighbour for a walk to exercise and get to know each other better?

- Spring is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy gardening in your front yard or local community garden - you'll be amazed at how many opportunities this presents for a friendly conversation

- Our next Alpha course starts on Tuesday 5th October. It will be run online, so this is an opportunity to invite your neighbours and friends to join in from their lounge room!

🔥 Survivor Lockdown Tip 🔥 #4:
A Psalm a day (with coffee in hand)

Sometimes you open your bible and have no idea where to turn to. In lockdown I’ve been running to the Psalms everyday like a survivor contestant eating protein after a month of rice.

Inspiration can be hard to find without routine, so be kind to yourself and let God speak with a Psalm a day.

I always attach this with a coffee in hand (so when I pour my coffee I know it’s time for a Psalm!)

Don’t know where to start? Try Psalm 61, here’s a peak:

“Lead me to a rock that is high above me, for you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower in the face of the enemy.”
‭‭verses 2-3‬

"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Yesterday's sermon looked at the topic of Body Image - something that so many of us struggle with. We hope that you came away a little bit more ready to declare that your body is wonderful and God thinks it to be good, just as He planned to be.

Try reading over the these three verses each morning and see how The Spirit can transform how you view yourself.

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;" Psalm 139:14

"Honour God with your bodies" 1 Corinthians 6:20

"20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." Phil 3:20

It's Wellbeing Wednesday! That's Betsy's 🔥Lockdown survivor tip! 🔥Find a way to treat yourself today in a way that will care for your body, mind or spirit!

Some ideas include:
- Taking the afternoon off school. Wild!
- Gelato Drive by! Dare you to get extra choc on top.
- Follow a youtube stretch class. Bye bye text neck!
- Run your own Worship & Prayer hour! Hit up our Spotify for a playlist! 🙌
- Mid-day lunch nap. Now that's an idea!

Whatever helps you to restore joy & peace into your day, so you can reset & refocus on what God has blessed us with and how we can love others with what we have now.
