Consumed with compassion for the people he encountered, Jesus commissioned his disciples for mission, compelling them to “go, and proclaim the good news that the kingdom of heaven has come near!” (Matthew 10:7)
But before sending them out Jesus also reminded his disciples of the imperative of hospitality as a model of discipleship: “You have been treated generously, so live generously.”
The hospitality of God’s economy is reciprocal - giving and receiving. We model God’s unconditional love through welcoming the stranger, serving the vulnerable, sharing our time and our resources, and receiving the generous gifts of others with humility and gratitude.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME to join with our Upper Hunter Churches this Sunday, 14 June:

9.30am at St Alban’s Muswellbrook
9.30am at St Paul’s Murrurundi
10.00am at Holy Trinity Merriwa
10.00am at St Matthias Denman
11.30am at St Paul’s Castlerock

On the night of Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples, "while they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew 26:26-28

At Holy Communion or the Eucharist (Thanksgiving) we recall Jesus' once and for all, for all people, sufficient sacrifice, so that as believers in Jesus' promises, we may share in life for all eternity. We do this almost weekly in our churches in the Upper Hunter, as a reminder of our deep and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ, who gave his life for the sake of the whole world.

Our Upper Hunter Minster Churches will celebrate the Feast of Thanksgiving for Holy Communion (in Latin Corpus Christi) on Sunday, 7 June:

St Alban's Muswellbrook at 9.30am
St Paul's Murrurundi at 9.30am
Holy Trinity Merriwa at 10.00am
St Matthias Denman at 10.00am
St Mark's Wybong at 12.30am
St Alban's Muswellbrook Youth and Families' Church at 4.30pm
