On the night of Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples, "while they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew 26:26-28
At Holy Communion or the Eucharist (Thanksgiving) we recall Jesus' once and for all, for all people, sufficient sacrifice, so that as believers in Jesus' promises, we may share in life for all eternity. We do this almost weekly in our churches in the Upper Hunter, as a reminder of our deep and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ, who gave his life for the sake of the whole world.
Our Upper Hunter Minster Churches will celebrate the Feast of Thanksgiving for Holy Communion (in Latin Corpus Christi) on Sunday, 7 June:
