THE SPECIAL VOLUNTEERS’ SERVICE OF BRUNSWICK VALLEY UNITING CHURCH, MULLUMBIMBY…

Last Sunday, we celebrated National Volunteers Week to pause and give thanks for the people among us whose quiet acts of service help hold communities together. Democratic societies are strengthened not only by governments and institutions, but by ordinary people who freely choose to give their time, energy, compassion and care to others. Volunteers are part of the heartbeat of a healthy community.

Volunteering is often a win-win gift. Those who volunteer frequently discover friendship, purpose and meaning. The organisations they serve are strengthened. And countless people benefit from their kindness, generosity and practical help.
Yet saying “thank you” hardly seems enough when we think about the hours given, the emotional effort carried, the listening ears offered, the patience shown, and the faithful commitment demonstrated week after week. In a world where many could volunteer but few actually do, the selfless acts of those who step forward become even more precious.

We especially gave thanks for the volunteers in our Op Shop, Playtime and Food Box ministries. Through their kindness, welcome and care, they become the hands of Jesus reaching out in love to every person they encounter.

We celebrated these beautiful people. We honour them, we thank them, and we pray God’s blessing upon them for the love they so generously share with our community.

Our OP shop celebrated 34 years of service!

Current and former members of staff, along with their relatives, enjoyed morning tea together and shared many stories and memories.

We praise the Lord for the opportunity to love and bless our neighbours through the OP shop.

We introduce our minister, Reverend Tay Lee.
Please see his Bio on our church website.

I was born and raised in South Korea in a Christian family, where faith was simply part of everyday life. My parents were active leaders in our church, so going to worship and trusting in God felt natural to me as a child.
