It was fabulous having the new Archbishop of Melbourne, Ric Thorpe and wife Louie, at our Corpus Christi service on 7 June. Archbishop Ric presided and preached and met parishioners over brunch. A joyful occasion.

TODAY IS PENTECOST SUNDAY! 🔥
Join us today at either the 8.30am or 10am service

Fr Derek writes…
“Pentecost (from the Greek word pentekoste meaning fiftieth) is celebrated fifty days after Easter, and for Christians commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and followers of Jesus in Jerusalem, which empowered them to go out and spread the Gospel. It is widely considered by Christians to be the “birthday of the Church….”

Today, our Vicar Dianne and our Assistant Curate Candice headed to the Jumbunna Region Prayer Day where they lead the prayers for Children and Youth Ministry.
Rev Candice writes… “We used a creative prayer approach inspired by Prayer Spaces.
First we prayed for those young people currently in our parishes, praying for continued growth and nurture in their their faith journey. We used the imagery of looking towards Synod 2050.
Second we prayed for the ministries in our parishes, those already running, those that are hoped for. We prayed for our parishes and those ministries to grow with the image of leaves growing on a tree”.

A message from the Archbishop of Canterbury

I stand with my brother in Christ, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, in his courageous call for a kingdom of peace.

As I prepare to visit Rome later this month to meet and pray with Pope Leo, I am mindful of his call to keep our eyes open to the suffering of the world, and our gaze fixed on our crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ – the image of the invisible God, in whose image and likeness every human being is made. In him, we recognise that we are children of the one Father and members of a single human family. Prayer is not an escape from the world, nor a turning away from injustice; rather, it is a turning towards God in the midst of it, confronting evil, seeking God’s will, and becoming instruments of transformation and peace.

Looking forward to seeing you at either our 8.30am or 10am Eucharist this Sunday.

Our Associate Priest, Fr Derek Jones says “Today has been called Low Sunday, marking the end of the Easter Octave. It is a day of calmer celebration compared to the high festivities of Easter Day. However, the Easter season is still very much with us; indeed, for Christians, it is always with us, so let us continue to celebrate Christ With Us in all that we do and say.”
