This afternoon, 4-7pm, we're hosting some fun public activities for kids who are trick-or-treating, including having some treats on hand. In the Church we'll have a station set up for people to light a candle in memory of a loved one and take a moment to reflect, in recognition of All Saints Day tomorrow. Drop in if you have a minute, let other people know about it too! See you there.

This looks excellent!

We’re excited to share that a beautiful new artwork, inspired by Uniting Church President Rev Charissa Suli and NSW/ACT Moderator Rev Faaimata Havea Hiliau, is currently on display at the Australian Museum in Sydney.

Artist Elijah Lemusu, in collaboration with Rev Suli and Rev Hiliau, explored “images, symbols and storylines reflecting the faith of Tongan people living in the diaspora”.

The artwork, ‘Otuá mo Tonga ko hoku Tofia – God and Tonga are my Inheritance’, was named and contextualised by Rosaline Uaniva Havea. It features a ngatu (barkcloth) adorned with symbols of deep spiritual and cultural meaning: a cross, kava bowl, Bible, dove, and canoe – honouring the leadership of Tongan women, and the enduring values of faith, peace and identity across oceans.

This work is part of a larger exhibition commemorating the 50-year Golden Jubilee of Tonga–Australia diplomatic relations, with support from many cultural and government partners.

Moderator Rev David Fotheringham, on behalf of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, has added his support to a statement from the Victorian Multicultural Commission's Multifaith Advisory Group following a graffiti attack on a Hindu temple in Boronia earlier this week.
The Hindu Shree Swaminarayan Temple, and a number of businesses, were targeted on Monday.
David is the Synod's representative on the Multifaith Advisory Group, which released a statement yesterday condemning the graffiti attack.
"Each time there (are acts of vandalism), we will stand together – until there are none and the yearning of our prayers is fulfilled," part of the statement said.

UCA President Rev Charissa Suli recently featured on ABC Radio National’s God Forbid program.

In this compelling interview, she shares her personal journey from a teenage mum once shunned by society and her church to becoming the first woman of colour to lead the denomination.

With honesty and humility, Rev Suli reflects on facing cultural and theological barriers, navigating faith and motherhood, and leading a Church that embraces inclusivity, justice and spiritual authenticity. She calls for a Christian faith that welcomes people as they are – particularly young people who are seeking meaning and belonging in a world of brokenness.

Our President Rev Suli stresses that spiritual depth and social relevance must go hand in hand, and challenges churches to create space for honest conversations, adapt to changing contexts and uplift migrant communities shaping the Church’s future. Her leadership is rooted not in exclusion or easy answers, but in listening, grace and hope.
