Red Shield Appeal

Every 17 seconds, The Salvation Army in Australia helps someone in need. And this help is made possible through the generosity of people like you, who support the Red Shield Appeal.

The compounded impact of the financial and social events of the past few years means homelessness is fast becoming the reality for an increasing number of individuals and families, including more employed Australians.

The Salvation Army has walked alongside Australians for over 140 years — providing shelter, safety and support to those in need. Over the last financial year, we provided over 1.1 million nights of accommodation and over $24.3 million in financial assistance via cash, gift cards, vouchers and more to those in need.

But our work is far from over.

This Red Shield Appeal, we ask you to support us, and be the hope people desperately need to move beyond hardship.

Be the hope people need!

A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week. Whether it’s your friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about go through life’s ups and downs every day. And they’re not alone, with 72% of Australians reporting elevated levels of distress. (1)

Regular, meaningful conversations with the people close to you can help prevent small things from becoming big things. By checking in regularly, you build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to.

So don't wait for R U OK?Day on September 12 , Ask R U OK? Any Day of the year because a conversation could change a life.
