𝙷𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚢 𝙵𝚊𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛'𝚜 𝙳𝚊𝚢 𝚝𝚘 𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚃𝙲𝙼𝙱 𝙳𝚊𝚍𝚜!

🅛🅐🅢🅣 🅢🅤🅝🅓🅐🅨 we saw how the people of Israel were not only freed from slavery in Egypt; they were freed for worship, for a relationship of trusting obedience and love to the God who had 'carried them on eagles' wings'. God made a covenant with them, grounded in his grace, and with good laws to follow.

However, the people were unable to keep this covenant; they needed new hearts. And that was exactly what Jesus came to bring!

🔥 Men’s BBQ & Woodfire Night! 🔥

Last Saturday, the men of Trinity Church Mount Barker got together for a great night of BBQ, woodfire, conversations and fellowship.

It was a great opportunity to connect, enjoy a good meal, share some laughs and spend time together. 🙌

🅛🅐🅢🅣 🅢🅤🅝🅓🅐🅨 we saw the grumbling of the Israelites, as God led them into the wilderness after their miraculous delivery from Egypt. Yahweh tested his people, to teach them that 'man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD' (Deuteronomy 8:2). He was showing that he was their faithful provider.

In Jesus God has 'rained down bread from heaven' - this time not literal manna but spiritual food, living water to satisfy our restless hearts. Praise God for his overflowing generosity to us in Christ!

‘Sir,’ they said, ‘always give us this bread.’
Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:34-35)

🅣🅗🅘🅢 🅢🅤🅝🅓🅐🅨 we continue our Term 3 series from Exodus 19-24, reflecting on 'the God who makes a covenant with his people'.

🅛🅐🅢🅣 🅢🅤🅝🅓🅐🅨 we saw the LORD deliver his people out of their slavery, with a glorious and decisive victory over Pharaoh and his army at the Red Sea. Yahweh the warrior fought for his people; he called them to trust him, not fearing the enemy but standing firm, being still, and seeing the deliverance he would bring about.

As they stood on the edge of the sea, seeing the LORD's great salvation, the people of Israel were filled with holy fear and sang his praises. We too will one day stand by the glassy sea, in awe of the great salvation won for us by Jesus our Champion, and singing the song of Moses and of the Lamb!

‘Great and marvellous are your deeds,
Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
King of the nations.
ho will not fear you, Lord,
and bring glory to your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship before you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.’ (Revelation 15:3-5)

🅣🅗🅘🅢 🅢🅤🅝🅓🅐🅨 we continue our Term 3 series from Exodus 16-17, reflecting on 'the God who provides for his people'.

🅛🅐🅢🅣 🅢🅤🅝🅓🅐🅨 we heard about the final, climactic judgment of God on Pharaoh and Egypt: the 'plague of the firstborn'. On that day Yahweh rescued his people out of their slavery to Pharaoh, through the blood of a lamb, shed in their place. The lamb died as a substitute, and so God's judgment 'passed over' all who were sheltering under the blood of the lamb.

That first Exodus was a shadow of the true, ultimate Exodus won for us through Jesus - the 'Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world' (John 1:29). By his grace God has freed us from our slavery to sin, the devil, and death, to bring us to our true eternal home. And so now we have a new 'day to remember', a new identity grounded in the cross of Christ.

As we sang together yesterday - how wonderful, how marvellous, is my Saviour's love for me!
