𝕃𝕒𝕀π•₯ π•Šπ•¦π•Ÿπ••π•’π•ͺ we heard from Ephesians 5:1-20, and the 'new walk' that is ours in Christ. As members of God's family by his grace, we are called to more and more learn to live his way - walking in love, in light, and in wisdom.

We learn this new walk not in our own strength, but filled with the Holy Spirit, with a song in our heart, giving thanks to God our Father for all he has done for us in Christ.

𝕃𝕒𝕀π•₯ π•Šπ•¦π•Ÿπ••π•’π•ͺ we reflected on Ephesians 4:17-5:2, and the 'new clothes' that are ours in Christ. Through Jesus we are given a whole new identity that leads to a new 'walk'. On this walk, we're called to 'put off' the patterns of thinking and acting that belong to our old self, and 'put on' our new self, to live more and more in line with who we already are in Christ.

Praise God that who we now are is his dearly loved children! And so we can walk this new way of love, not depending on our own efforts or strength, but on the grace he has poured out on us in the gospel.

𝕃𝕒𝕀π•₯ π•Šπ•¦π•Ÿπ••π•’π•ͺ we reflected on Ephesians 4:1-16, and what it looks like to grow together in Christ. We have a unity that is complete, given to us in Christ by the Spirit; a unity we're called to make every effort to keep. But we also have a unity that we're called to grow into - the 'unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God' (v13). We grow into a mature body as, equipped by God's word, we serve each other, and speak the truth in love to one another.

"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." (Ephesians 4:15-16)

𝕃𝕒𝕀π•₯ π•Šπ•¦π•Ÿπ••π•’π•ͺ Brian Vaatstra led us through Ephesians 3. We heard how God's great plan, once hidden but now revealed, is his grace for us in Christ, and is on display in his church! Not only that, but God's power is available for us - power the enables Christ to dwell in us, and us to grasp the reality of his love for us.
Praise God for his plan and power in Christ!

𝕃𝕒𝕀π•₯ π•Šπ•¦π•Ÿπ••π•’π•ͺ we saw how Jesus has not only reconciled us to God; he has torn down the walls between us! He has created a new humanity, united in himself. Paul urges the Ephesians, and us, to remember the humbling reality of who they were, the amazing achievement of what Jesus has done, and the stunning reality of who they now are - fellow citizens, children of God, and his holy temple. Praise God for his grace in uniting us not only to himself but to one another in Christ!

we continue in Ephesians, reflecting on God's plan and power for us in Christ, from Ephesians 3. Brian Vaatstra, from Trinity Church Victor Harbor, and well known to many here in Mount Barker, will be preaching.

𝕃𝕒𝕀π•₯ π•Šπ•¦π•Ÿπ••π•’π•ͺ we reflected on the serious reality of life outside of Christ: dead in sin, enslaved to the world, the devil, and the flesh, and under the righteous judgment of God. But we also rejoiced in the amazing news that "because of his great love for us because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressionsβ€”it is by grace you have been saved!" (2:4-5)

Praise God for his astounding gift! May we be humbled by this grace, not holding on to any works we do before God. And may we be lifted up to the purpose and dignity of being God's handiwork - walking in the good works he has prepared for us.

As it says in Ephesians 2:10, β€œFor we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” May you be encouraged today knowing the love and care you give reflects God’s goodness in such a special way.

We hope you feel celebrated, appreciated and loved today! 🌷

𝕃𝕒𝕀π•₯ π•Šπ•¦π•Ÿπ••π•’π•ͺ we heard Paul's heart-felt prayer for the Ephesians (& for us). He gives thanks for God's work in them. But he also knows that their deepest need is to grow in and live out of what they already have in Christ. And so he prays that they would know God more; that God would open the eyes of their hearts to know the promise and power and purpose that are theirs in Christ.

That same bright future hope and present power at work for the church is ours today! Let's join Paul in praying that God would reveal these realities to us more and more as we serve him together.

Unfortunately there were some technical issues with the recording on Sunday, so the sermon was not recorded. For previous sermons, you can listen online via our website here. https://www.trinity.org.au/mountbarker/resources/sermon-archive/
