We warmly welcome Fr. John Paul Pasala back to South Shepparton, to serve as Assistant Priest in the 5 Parishes of St. Mel’s, St. Brendan’s,
St. Malachy’s, St. Mary’s Mooroopna and St. Mary’s Dookie.
We are grateful for all he has shared with our parish communities he served over the years in the Diocese in Sandhurst and rejoice in his return among us.
May his ministry continue to be blessed, and may he find joy, peace, and a true sense of home in our midst.
We welcome him with gratitude and affection.

The Diocese of Sandhurst congratulates Bishop René Ramirez RCJ, who Pope Leo XIV has appointed the Ninth Bishop of Sandhurst.

The Diocese of Sandhurst congratulates Bishop René Ramirez RCJ, who Pope Leo XIV has appointed the Ninth Bishop of Sandhurst.

We are thrilled to welcome Bishop René back to our Diocese. He was Parish Priest of Shepparton South and Nagambie, and later, supervising priest at Rushworth, before he was ordained an Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne in February 2025.

Bishop Ramirez, who hails from Gapan, Philippines, has been a priest since June 1998.
He will succeed Shane Mackinlay, who was made Archbishop of Brisbane in September 2025.

This evening, Diocesan Administrator, Very Rev. Dr Brian Boyle (Fr Brian Boyle) notified the People of God in the Diocese of Sandhurst of the "joyous news".

A Requiem Mass in memory of Monsignor Francis (Frank) Marriott, a "giant" of our Diocese, will be held at 6.00 pm on Tuesday, 25 November at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Funeral details will be announced shortly.
