Dear members of the Modbury Stake,

A number of boundary alignment changes were presented and discussed at today’s Stake Conference Leadership session.

These changes will be presented for a sustaining vote during the Sunday session of Stake Conference.

The proposed changes can be viewed via the following link where members can identify which ward/stake they will attend by entering in their current address.

www.adelaidestakes.com.au

We warmly invite all members of the stake to attend the Saturday Evening session at 6:00pm at the Modbury chapel and the 10:00am Sunday session.

The meetings will be webcast for those who are unable to attend at the Modbury chapel.

The weblink for the 6:00pm Saturday Evening Session is https://zoom.us/j/93083483004

The weblink for the 10:00am Sunday Morning Session, which will be broadcast from the Firle Stake Centre is https://zoom.us/j/92912354364?pwd=ZW95MVNzSzVMUUFxakE3Y05pTXErUT09

The decision to realign the ward and stake boundaries has come through revelation and will be a blessing to the members in Adelaide.

The objective of these changes is not about boundaries or numbers. It is to strengthen individuals, young and old, and families to make and keep sacred covenants and more effectively engage in God’s work of salvation and exaltation.

They will be able to live the gospel more easily at home and at church. A focus on the Saviour and the temple will help to bring greater joy into each of your lives. This will be done by strengthening and consolidating some wards, necessitating a reduction of stakes in Adelaide from three to two.

For those of you who will be asked to participate in a new ward leaving a ward that you have long held dear, we pray that you will be willing to sustain these changes and that you will see your role in infusing faith, hope, and charity into the new units you will be serving and worshiping in.

For those of you who will be blessed with new associations by these changes, we encourage you to be welcoming and helpful in the transition as each unit evolves to make stronger wards.

For those who may have separated themselves from church attendance, no matter the reason, we invite you take this as an opportunity to come back, worship with us, and feast at the table laid before us in the Savior’s church. We hope and pray that you will feel welcome and needed.

The Lord is mindful of us and he knows us individually. We feel that this is His desire at this time and blessings await all of us as we share the gospel, rescue those who are lost, and strengthen one another as we strive to be like our Saviour, who is the head of this church.

May the Lord bless each of you and all of us as we look forward with faith.

With Love,
Modbury Stake Presidency

Spotlight on President Simon Roberts
President Roberts is the new Second Counsellor to President Nairn in The Modbury Stake.
He is a very friendly, warm, welcoming Brother, very happy to serve wherever the Lord wants him. At the time he was called to his new position he felt excited, anxious, overwhelmed and “very humbled.”
He feels very excited to be able to work with the Presidency and assist in the Stake Presidents vision for the Stake. He is looking forward to working in alignment to Priesthood keys and the unity that this brings, to being obedient and watching over the members of the Stake.
One of his previous callings was as Queensland Coordinating Council Communication Director. He enjoyed getting to know Civic Leaders across the state and especially enjoyed getting to know and work with other faith leaders. He was deeply touched by the faith and love the members of all Denominations had for The Lord.
President Roberts was born in England and has always been a member of the church. He remembers as a boy travelling with his family to many wards when his father was the Liverpool England Stake President. At age 11, his family moved to Berkshire where he resided throughout his adult life.
He feels his greatest achievement in life is his family. Married for 28 years, he and his wife Louise, have three children Matthew, Ethan and Dana. He loves being a husband and father.
He and his family came to Australia as part of his employment and although the work assignment was intended to be for only a few years, they all loved Australia so much, they decided to stay and have now been here 13 years.
Until 2021 they lived in Queensland in the Redland Bay area, Cleveland Stake, and now reside in the Tea Tree Gully Ward boundaries.
He works for Santos in the city and is responsible for the delivery of Enterprise Applications throughout their Australia, PNG and Alaska businesses.
He is looking forward with great excitement to having the privilege of serving in his new calling and participating in God’s work of Salvation and Exaltation.

Declan Butler and Noah Scott, young men from the Australian outback mining town of Roxby Downs, were recently ordained [deacons](https://news-pacific.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/deacon) of [The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/?lang=eng).

In the Church today, worthy male members may receive the [Aaronic Priesthood](https://news-pacific.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/aaronic-priesthood) beginning in January of the year they turn 12. These young men, typically ages 11-17, receive many opportunities to give service and participate in sacred [ordinances](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/ordinances?lang=eng). As they worthily fulfill their duties, they act in the name of the Lord to help others receive the blessings of the gospel.

The offices of the Aaronic Priesthood are [priest](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/priest?lang=eng), [teacher](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/teacher-aaronic-priesthood?lang=eng), and [deacon](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/deacon?lang=eng). With the authorization of their presiding [Melchizedek Priesthood](https://news-pacific.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/melchizedek-priesthood) leader, deacons pass the [sacrament](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/sacrament?lang=eng). They help leaders watch over Church members by giving service and assisting with temporal matters, such as gathering [fast offerings](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/fasting-and-fast-offerings?lang=eng ).

Declan and Noah felt very happy and excited receiving the priesthood and being able to pass the sacrament for the first time to their small congregation of nine people in Woomera, 563 kilometres north of Adelaide.

With Declan's Autism, passing the sacrament for the first time with his good friend, Noah, helped him stay reverent. As he was about to pass the sacrament, Declan said he felt calm and very happy. He was so pleased to serve others.

“I feel like a servant of God. That feels good,” he said.

Noah shared, “I felt good, but it was a bit scary at first and I was frightened I might drop the water.”

Noah enjoyed the experience of passing the sacrament and making his mum and dad proud.

He felt that his Heavenly Father was also happy watching him. He said, “I felt really, really good!”

He is looking forward to next Sunday to pass the sacrament again.

The Aaronic Priesthood theme begins, “I am a beloved son of God, and He has a work for me to do. With all my heart, might, mind, and strength, I will love God, keep my covenants, and use His priesthood to serve others, beginning in my own home.”

Noah and Declan are excited to begin their new Priesthood responsibilities.

Church Magazines need our help

Church magazines would like to publish stories about Primary aged boys in the Pacific area.
Noelle Barrus, writer and Editor of the Friend, has requested experiences from any boys who have had any of the following :
1. Service around Christmastime
2. Special experiences passing the Sacrament for the first time [this would be older boys, like 11 or 12]
3. Experiences finding peace in Christ during hard times.
If you know a Primary boy or a young man who has just entered YM who fits the criteria and may have something to share, Noelle would love to have contact with their parents.
Could you please contact me as the Assistant Stake Public Communications Director, so I can share the parents contact name with Noelle.
Thank you
