Keats’ poem captures something of the seasonal changes that slowly come upon us as Autumn unfolds. Here at the Hermitage we may not have "thatched eves" but we are certainly bursting with colours and feeling deeply the blessings this time provides for us.

Within the natural beauty of late autumn in the Highlands, Assistant Principals from Marist schools across the country have gathered at their Spiritual Home here at the Hermitage for 3 days of input, prayer and networking

A great blessing to host these significant leaders of the Marist educational mission here in Australia.

"Let your soul and spirit fly
Into the mystic”

Over 55 years ago Van Morrison wrote his classic song “Into the Mystic” and last weekend, a wonderfully diverse group of folks gathered for our annual “Mystic Within” retreat. They let their 'souls and spirits fly’ as they entered into the contemplative atmosphere created through quality input, periods of silence, prayer and eucharist, and the beautiful natural environment of the Hermitage.

The Hermitage was delighted to host Bishop Brian Mascord and over a hundred leaders from the Wollongong Diocese today. The program was facilitated by British Benedictine monk Fr Lawrence
Freeman and was a great success.

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the death of Br Doug Walsh, who died peacefully yesterday in Melbourne. He was 88 years old and had lived 70 years as a Marist Brother.

Deeply loved and widely respected, Br Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his friends at the Exodus Community, Olympic Village, West Heidelberg.

Reflecting on Br Doug’s inspiring life, Br Darren Burge, SoTS Provincial, has written a moving tribute. “It did not take Doug long to realise that human beings are already holy,” he writes. “For Doug, the secret was simply to be the best human he could be, which led him to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to community engagement wherever he could.”
