Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”

Almighty God and Heavenly Father,

Whose kingdom rules over all and in whom there is perfect freedom. We give you thanks on this Day for all who have served in the defence of this country.

As we remember those men and women who served – in the ranks of our Navy, Army, Air Force and Merchant Navy, we give thanks to you, gracious God, for their great sacrifices in conflict and in captivity – for the cause of peace and freedom.

We also give you thanks for the dedicated service of Australian military and police personnel across our world at the present time.

In our nation of wealth, prosperity and comfort, let us not forget the cost of these privileges which we now enjoy.

And may our hearts be filled with gratitude and humility towards you, Almighty God, who sent your Son, Jesus Christ, to die as a sacrifice on our behalf.

We’re praying for our teens and leaders to have a safe, fun, and encouraging time together — growing in friendship and diving deep into God’s word.

In John 20, we saw that Jesus is not dead—but alive.
The tomb is empty, hope is real, and everything has changed.

What’s Easter all about?

At its heart, Easter is about a King the world rejected… and a King God raised.

On Good Friday, Jesus was mocked, beaten, and crucified. Rejected by the crowds. But that wasn’t the end.

On Easter Sunday, everything changes.

Jesus didn’t stay dead. He rose again. The rejected King is the risen King.

Which means Easter isn’t just a story from the past—it’s an invitation today.
An invitation to forgiveness.
An invitation to real hope.
An invitation to life with God.

If you’ve ever had questions about Jesus, the Bible, or the purpose of life, we’d love to invite you along this Sunday. Whether you’re curious, sceptical, or just looking for hope—you’re always welcome at Minto Anglican Church.

What a great way to begin the Easter long weekend—gathered with friends and confronted with this powerful truth from John 19:

Jesus is the Rejected King.

Rejected by the crowds.
Rejected by the leaders.
Rejected in our place.

And yet, in that rejection, Jesus gives his life to reconcile us to God—taking our sin and making us new.

Forgiveness.
Peace.
Hope.

Good Friday at Minto Anglican Church

The cross of Jesus isn’t just a symbol—it’s where we see a King rejected.

Join us this Good Friday as we look at John 19:1–16 and see Jesus—mocked, beaten, and condemned. The true King of the world stands before the crowd… and is rejected.

But this isn’t just their story. It’s ours.

Because at the cross, we see what happens when people reject God’s King— and at the same time, we see the depth of His love.

A King who doesn’t fight back.
A King who lays down His life.
A King who is rejected so that we can be forgiven.

🕘 9am – All-age service with kids’ spot and activity packs

Easter Sunday – 5 April 2026
🕘 9am – Family service with the Lord’s Supper, kids’ Easter celebration, jumping castle, and plenty of Easter eggs
