Amid a rocket attack launched by Hezbollah on residential homes in the village of Rmeish in southern Lebanon, more than 50 children celebrated their first Communion in a testament to faith, resilience, and hope in the midst of war.

In comments to local media, Rmeish Municipality Head Hanna Al-Amil said a missile fell between inhabited homes on Sunday morning and “narrowly avoided causing a major disaster.”

Al-Amil stressed that the village contains no military forces, armed groups, or weapons, emphasizing that residents “simply want to live safely on their land, away from confrontation and escalation.”

The people of Rmeish remain attached to their land and continue their lives “despite difficult circumstances,” he said, calling for the protection of civilians and for the village and its residents not to be placed at risk.

Monday Morning Reflection for Reconciliation Week

Dreamtime
There's a clear rock pool and shade tree place
where time sits down with those who come to pause a while
and let their spirits drink.
From here the track
heads further out
deeper in
to where time and land and spirit
merge into One -
our big walk's
End, Track and Beginning
Dreamtime ever present here, everywhere,
and with everything.
~ Noel Davis from Campfire of the Heart

This year's theme for Reconciliation is 'All In" with the catch phrase being 'All of us, all in for Reconcilation everyday.'..now that would indeed be "dreamtime ever present here, everywhere, and with everything." May it be so. Amen.

Trinity Sunday
Today, on this beautiful feast day, we celebrate 37 years since the laying and blessing of our foundation stone at Jamberoo Abbey. The actual date of the blessing was 21 May 1989, however, as that date was the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, we always celebrate it each year on Trinity Sunday. It is a day for giving thanks and praise to our triune God and we invite you to join us!

I am bending my knee
In the eye of the Maker who created me,
In the eye of the Son who purchased me,
In the eye of the Spirit who cleansed me,
In friendship and affection.
Through thine own Anointed One, O God,
Bestow upon us fullness in our need,

Love towards God,
The affection of God,
The smile of God,
The wisdom of God,
The grace of God,
The fear of God
And the will of God
To do on the world of the Three,
As angels and saints do in heaven;
Each shade and light,
Each day and night,
Each time in kindness,
Give thou us thy Spirit.
Amen.
~from Carmina Gadelica (a collection of early and traditional prayers, blessings, poems and songs from the Gaelic speaking people of Scotland).

I was born into a sternly Presbyterian culture. Politically, I’m more Orange than Donald Trump’s skin tone. But today I am on my knees giving thanks to the Pope.

He has produced the most powerful political document of the year, taking on the greatest challenge of our times. His first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, deals with the changes which will be wrought to all our lives by artificial intelligence in the months and years ahead.

AI will transform our economies and societies massively and irrevocably; it will change what it means to be human; it may even mark the end of humanity itself. If it takes the Pope to alert us to this revolution then perhaps the Reformation wasn’t such a good idea after all.

Sydney’s St Mary’s Cathedral witnessed a record-setting 140 confirmations on 24 May, the solemn feast of Pentecost. Australian Catholic prelate and Bishop-elect of Rockhampton, Daniel Meagher, conferred the sacrament upon 140 Catholics from various parts of the Australian city during the Holy Mass celebrated on Pentecost Sunday. Delivering his homily during the Mass, Bishop Meagher said that the descent of the Holy Spirit was the love of Jesus poured down from the highest heavens, completely transforming the lives of the Apostles. He also said that confirmation is the second sacramental outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit, which unites confirmands to the Catholic Church, regardless of their reasons for seeking the sacrament.
