Hey friends,

With everything going on in the world, life can feel like a long road marked by bad news, rising pressure, and disappointed hopes.
Easter does not pretend those things are small. But it does tell us they do not get the final word.

This Sunday at Calvary Chapel Newcastle we’ll walk the Emmaus Road in Luke 24: two disappointed disciples, one unrecognised stranger, and a resurrection hope that turns everything around.
Would love to see you there.

Missiles over Tehran. Drones across the Middle East. Warships sinking. Leaders flexing. News cycles melting down. When moments like this happen, everyone starts asking questions like "Is this it?" "WW3?" "Is this the moment that changes everything?"

2,000 years ago the Apostle Paul wrote a letter from prison to a church living under the shadow of the Roman Empire and he told them something shockingly relevant: Caesar had his day… But Jesus Christ 𝗵𝗮𝘀 His Day.

This Sunday at Calvary Chapel Newcastle we continue our “Choose Joy” series in Philippians. And we’ll see together how God’s answer to a world that keeps spilling blood is not first to hand us the lever of history, it’s - through the shed blood of His Son - to call a people whose lives look like Jesus’. And make no mistake - that is not less than justice - it’s the very kind of people through whom God brings justice.

History does not belong to Tehran, Washington, or Jerusalem. History belongs to the risen King, and His Day is coming again.

Come join us as we open God’s Word together.

Hey, quick check-in. If your life had a colour right now… what would it be?

🟥 Red zone: you’re under it. Struggling. Running on fumes.
🟧 Amber zone: you’re managing. Getting by. “Not too bad.”
🟩 Green zone: things are working. You’re winning. Breathing easy.

Where are you on the chart—and what happens to your “wellbeing” when one phone call flips the colour overnight?

This Sunday at CCN we’re launching a new series through the book of Philippians called “Choose Joy.” Which (lets be honest!) sounds suspiciously like something printed on your grandma’s cushion… or a Kmart coffee mug… Until you realise the man who wrote Philippians was in prison. Uncertain future. Opposition rising. Facing ex*****on. And yet somehow, his letter overflows with joy.

We'll be spending 16 weeks in this AMAZING NT letter. And it all starts this Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hey friends and family!

Over the last few weeks at CCN we've been looking what the church is. Well - this Sunday is VISION SUNDAY! - which is a pretty bit deal in the history of our church.

We'll be getting together to talk about how we bring all of what we have learnt about the church together as a way to get a handle on who we are and what God is calling us to be and do as a local church here in Newcastle.

This is all about walking forward together with shared language, shared conviction and shared direction into the future for what God has for us as a local church.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Dear friends of CCN,

This February we began a new initiative as a local church: a first-of-its-kind teaching series revisiting what we believe as a church family.

With the launch of our Mission, Vision & Values this coming Sunday (Feb 22), we thought it was a fitting moment to begin by returning to the foundation: what we believe about the church itself.

Over three weeks we camped in Matthew 16 - the first place Jesus uses the word “church” - and we listened again to a promise the world still can’t break: “I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” (v. 18)

That promise has forged a community unlike anything else on earth - a people who have outlived empires, reconciled enemies, humbled the proud, lifted the ashamed, and carried hope into the darkest places - because the church is animated by a life stronger than death.

If you missed any of the messages (or would like to revisit them), we’ve put the whole series online. We really do believe these teachings will serve you as you’re reminded of who we are and why we gather.

This Sunday we're going to grab words our culture treats like live wires:

Headship. Authority. Correction. Obedience. Submission. 😬

And we’ll look at three gifts Jesus gave the church - three stubborn, ordinary realities that forged a revolutionary, reconciling, never-seen-before community of love… the kind that has shaped history, humbled empires, brought hardened atheists and satanists to their knees, turned enemies into brothers, and unleashed mercy where there used to be hate.

Come along. Come and see. All are welcome. 🙌

✨ CCN KICKING OFF 10 AM THIS SUNDAY! ✨

Calvary Chapel Newcastle is kicking off 2026 by opening God’s Word together in Psalm 119—a song that celebrates the beauty, power, and life-giving clarity of God’s Word.

Over three Sundays, we’ll explore how God’s Word:
• awakens desire for Him
• strengthens us in seasons of weariness
• and guides us forward with joy and hope

🗓 Starts this Sunday (Jan 11)
⏰ 10:00 AM (new time!)
📍 178 Glebe Rd, Merewether

December stirs things we don’t always know how to name... A little ache. A little excitement. A question or two we’ve pushed aside all year. Good news: that’s exactly where the Christmas story begins.

This Sunday at Calvary Chapel Newcastle we launch our Advent series for 2025 exploring the familiar - yet often misunderstood - journey of the Magi from the East:

⭐️ A star appears.
👀 A group of outsiders look up.
❓ And they start asking dangerous, curious questions.

What if the ache of expectation you feel at this time of year isn’t a burden to manage… but a signal? A quiet knock? A place where God Himself is reaching out to you?

Come and see. All are welcome!
