"He is not here; for He is risen, as He said."
— Matthew 28:6

Because He lives, we have hope and peace.
May the risen Christ bless you with joy, love, and new beginnings.

The Easter Vigil St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Melton South celebrated after sunset on Holy Saturday, marks the culmination of the Easter Triduum and celebrates the resurrection of Jesus.

Celebrated in four parts:
1. The Service of Light
The vigil begins in darkness. A new fire is lit, blessed, and used to light the Paschal Candle, representing the light of Christ rising from the dead. The candle is carried into the church, and the Exsultet (Easter Proclamation) is sung.

2. The Liturgy of the Word
The church meditates on the history of salvation through a series of scripture readings from the Old and New Testaments. These readings trace God's work from creation to the resurrection of Christ.

3. The Liturgy of Baptism
This part focuses on rebirth. Water is blessed, and, the Sacrament of Baptism is administered in the candidates. Parishioners renew their own baptismal promises.

4. The Liturgy of the Eucharist
The service culminates in the Eucharist (Holy Communion), which is the first Mass of Easter Sunday. This is described as a joyful celebration of the Resurrection and a foretaste of the heavenly banquet.

On Good Friday, the bare altar is a profound symbol of the stripping of Jesus of his garments, his abandonment by his disciples, and his death on the cross. The church environment is intentionally stark to reflect the somber, mourning tone of the day.

where the celebrant lies face down on the floor before the altar at the beginning of the Celebration of the Passion of the Lord... a powerful act of humility and mourning, marking the church's grief for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

A cross is brought forward and unveiled for the faithful to venerate. The veneration of the cross is a way to remember and reflect on Christ's passion and suffering and to express love and gratitude for His sacrifice.

Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum -- commemorating the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples, marking the institution of the Holy Eucharist, the priesthood, and the washing of the feet.

Also the presentation of the blessed holy oils for use by the parish throughout the year -- "Sacred Chrism" for Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, and consecrations; "Oil of the Sick" for anointing the ill; and "Oil of Catechumens" for strengthening those preparing for Baptism.

While it is a solemn start to the Triduum, the Mass itself is joyful, featuring the singing of the Gloria, during which bells are rung.

After the Mass, the Eucharist is carried in procession to an altar of repose for adoration, and the main altar is later stripped in preparation for Good Friday.

Faithful keep pray before the Altar of Repose, reflecting on Jesus' words, "Could you not watch one hour with me?"

Parishioners of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Melton South commemorated the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord on March 25, marking the moment when the Word became flesh, exactly nine months before Christmas.

The celebration was a prayerful and reflective occasion, honouring Mary’s profound “fiat,” her wholehearted “yes” to God’s saving plan.
