What If Someone's Biggest Objection to Christianity Became the Beginning of Their Faith Journey?

Suffering. Evil. Doubt.

Questions about God's existence.

These can feel like intimidating topics when we're trying to share Jesus.

But what if we stopped seeing difficult questions as obstacles to evangelism and started seeing them as opportunities for meaningful conversations?

Ryan from NeedGod.net recently spoke with an agnostic man during a livestream.

The man had walked away from his Christian background because of unanswered questions.

Rather than dismissing his doubts, Ryan spent around 45 minutes engaging with his objections and explaining the Gospel.

By the end, the man expressed a desire to trust in Christ.

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15

You don't have to be afraid when someone asks a difficult question about God.

Sometimes their willingness to ask is the very opportunity you've been praying for.

What if your greatest opportunity to share Jesus is already part of your weekly routine?

Think about it.

The teammates you train with.
The parents you chat with on the sidelines.
The coach who encourages you.
The friends you catch up with after a match.

What if these are the very people God is calling you to reach?

Sport brings Australians together. And for Christians, those everyday connections can become meaningful opportunities for evangelism.

Jesus said:

In this video, Melinda Dwight shares the story of a couple whose lives were changed because someone invited them to church.

They didn’t come the first time.

But the invitation stayed with them. Eventually, they came and that simple invitation became a catalyst for God to do something significant in both of their lives.

We love stories like this because they remind us that we often have no idea what God might do through one simple act of obedience.

We might think we’re just inviting someone to church.

We might think they’ll probably say no.

We might wonder whether it will make any difference.

Stories don't simply entertain us.

They shape us.

Ian Reilly believes Christians can underestimate their power because a good story can reach places that an argument sometimes can't.

It can awaken questions about:

Truth.
Beauty.
Goodness.
Hope.
Meaning.
Purpose.

And ultimately, it can point towards God.

Jesus Himself regularly used stories to communicate profound spiritual truth.

“Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables...” Matthew 13:34

Why does her life matter?

Her worth isn't determined by her wealth, her status, her influence or what she can contribute.

She bears the image of God.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them.” Genesis 1:27
