Anglican Overseas Aid

Anglican Overseas Aid At Anglican Overseas Aid, we long to see the world as God designed it to be, renewed and restored.

Anglican Overseas Aid is an overseas relief and development agency of the Anglican Church of Australia. For more than 30 years the agency has been supporting communities around the world to lift themselves out of poverty regardless of race, religion, sexuality, gender, age or social standing within a community. Our work is motivated by Christian faith and enacted through best-practice development

frameworks. We are fully accredited with AusAID and a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct. Anglican Overseas Aid’s work is inspired by the gospel of Christ, with a vision for a peaceful, just and sustainable world for all. With this as our goal, we work with Anglican and like-minded agencies to create and strengthen partnerships in developing countries to overcome poverty, injustice and disaster. We support our partners to assist marginalised communities to take control of their own lives and promote community wellbeing. Anglican Overseas Aid’s work is funded and energised through friendships, hard work, a shared Anglican expression of Christian faith and everyday acts of unity. We are extremely grateful for the support we receive and are always seeking opportunities to inspire Australians to become involved and responsible global citizens.

When medicine is scarce, knowledge saves lives 🤝

Since USAID withdrew, families in Mozambique have been walking for hours to reach clinics, only to be sent away with prescriptions they cannot afford to fill.

Prevention work has never mattered more. The Diocese of Nampula is training local volunteers, teaching families how to prevent malaria, improving hygiene and sanitation, and reaching the next generation with life-saving health education.

If you're in a position to help this EOFY, donations are combined with funding from the Australian Government's NGO Cooperation Program to reach more people and extend this vital program.

What happens when women are equipped with knowledge and opportunity? Communities thrive.

Through the Abundant Life program, Muassite is helping people access practical teaching on health, family planning, HIV treatment and early marriage.

‘Women are able,’ Muassite says, ‘but if opportunity isn’t given to them, they’re not going to show their abilities.’

For over two decades, our CEO Jo Knight has sat with communities on the frontlines of climate and poverty, listening, learning, and asking what the church is called to do.

Called to Care, published by Inter-Varsity Press UK, is the fruit of that journey.

Join us in London on Sunday 7 June for the UK launch at St John's Church, Waterloo.

A panel conversation with Dr Ruth Valerio, Paul Cook, and Pete Moorey (Christian Aid) will explore how Christians can engage wisely, care deeply, and act faithfully together.

We'd love to see you there. Get your tickets: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/uk-launch-of-called-to-care-by-jo-knight-tickets-1988565006465

Anglican Overseas Aid is seeking two people to join our team in roles that will strengthen the systems, standards and support behind our work.

We’re currently recruiting for:

📊 Senior Business Systems & Data Manager

This new role will lead AOA’s business systems and data capability—spanning CRM stewardship (currently Salesforce), organisational workflows, reporting and digital readiness.

You’ll improve data integrity and usability, deliver reliable insights through dashboards and analysis, and help strengthen end-to-end supporter journeys.

Blending hands-on technical delivery with values-based people leadership, you’ll help ensure AOA’s systems are fit for purpose, proportionate to our scale, and supportive of mission delivery.

⚖️ Compliance & Standards Lead

This position will support AOA’s preparation for DFAT Full Reaccreditation and ACFID Code compliance. It will coordinate accreditation processes, documentation and internal readiness activities, support safeguarding and complaints systems, and oversee policy and compliance frameworks.

If you have experience in systems, data or compliance, and you’re aligned with AOA’s mission and Christian-informed values (which are integral to these roles), we’d love to hear from you.

Applications close 16 June. Apply now: https://anglicanoverseasaid.org.au/news-media/join-our-team/

When communities are facing hardship, prayer keeps us connected to the hope we share in Christ.

This month, we pray for Mozambique, where AOA’s partner, the Diocese of Nampula, is walking alongside families facing deep challenges.

We ask God to bring healing, health and hope to Nampula, and to strengthen the staff and volunteers carrying out this faithful work.

As Romans 12:12 reminds us, we remain faithful in prayer. May our partners and their volunteers not grow weary, but be strengthened by God as they continue this work.

Mother’s Day is a time to recognise mothers and the love they give every day 💛

It’s also a moment to remember that women need support for their own health and wellbeing too.

Through Wise Choices For Life, AOA’s partner in Uganda, communities are accessing reproductive health and life skills training.

This practical knowledge helps women understand their bodies, relationships and choices, so they can make more informed decisions for themselves and their families.

Today, we give thanks for mothers, and for work that helps women grow in knowledge and confidence. This reflects our belief that every person is made in God’s image and worthy of dignity.

When medicine is scarce, knowledge saves lives.

In the Nampula region of Mozambique, children and adults are getting sick from diseases that could be prevented.

Since the withdrawal of USAID support, clinics no longer have the resources they once did. Large health programs have ceased, and critical aid infrastructure is deteriorating.

AOA’s partner, the Diocese of Nampula, is working to help families understand how disease spreads and the simple hygiene practices that can protect children, like washing hands with soap.

This prevention work matters more than ever.

Initiatives mentioned in this post receive funding from the Australian Government, through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Australian High Commission in South Africa.

In Gaza, hospitals continue to operate under immense pressure.

Between September 2025 and February 2026, Al-Ahli Arab Hospital provided care to 1,494 patients, including 1,242 outpatients and 252 inpatients.

During this period, medical teams treated urgent health needs, including trauma injuries, burns, infectious diseases, severe malnutrition and chronic illnesses.

Support helped fund 56 hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists and administrative personnel, keeping essential hospital services available for vulnerable people and families.

Thank you to our generous supporters for helping Al-Ahli staff continue providing healthcare under extremely difficult circumstances.
