Melbourne, Australia Our strength lies in our diversity.

Dear Friends,

On January 12th, Fr Huy Nguyen and I were honoured to begin our journey as your new diocesan priests. As we step into this new chapter, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Franciscan Friars for their unwavering dedication, generous service, and faithful leadership throughout those many years. Springvale Parish is blessed with three vibrant communities—St Joseph’s C

hurch, St Mark’s Church, and the Vietnamese Community—as well as two primary schools in Springvale and Dingley. Here, faith, education, devotion, and tradition flourish within a rich multicultural environment. Over the years, our parish has nurtured a welcoming and prayerful atmosphere through our weekend and weekday Masses, liturgical celebrations, devotions, ministries, community activities, and school initiatives. We are honoured to welcome all members of our parish, current, new and returning parishioners. Though we come from different backgrounds, we are united by our faith and a shared desire to live out the teachings of Jesus in our daily lives, at home, at school, at work, and in the wider community. In this multicultural environment, faith, education, devotion, and tradition thrive. We remain committed to fostering a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment where all can grow in faith and learning, and where fellowship and friendship are strengthened. We warmly invite you to become part of our parish family—by joining us in the Eucharist, participating in our activities and ministries, and sharing your gifts, time, and talents. Once again, welcome to our parish. We are grateful to have you with us and look forward to journeying with you in faith. Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr Thang Vu
Parish Priest

As we farewell the beautiful Month of Mary, our devotion to the Blessed Virgin does not end with May.

Throughout the month, we honoured Mary with prayers, rosaries, flowers, and acts of love. Yet Mary remains our Mother every day of the year, always leading us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

As Catholics, we are invited to continue seeking her intercession, reflecting on her example of faith, humility, and obedience to God’s will. In moments of joy and in times of struggle, Mary reminds us to trust in the Lord and to treasure His Word in our hearts.

May our parish community continue to turn to Our Blessed Mother throughout the year, praying with confidence:

“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

Our Lady, Help of Christians, Patroness of Australia, pray for us. St. Mark, pray for us. St Joseph, pray for us.

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

Today, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity — one God in three Divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While the mystery of the Trinity is beyond our full understanding, it reveals the very heart of God: a perfect communion of love.

From the moment of our Baptism, we are welcomed into this divine relationship and are called to reflect God’s love in our families, communities, and daily lives. The Trinity reminds us that we were created for relationship, unity, and love.

As we celebrate this feast, may we deepen our faith in the Father who created us, the Son who redeemed us, and the Holy Spirit who guides and strengthens us each day.

“Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”

Happy Feast of the Most Holy Trinity! 🙏💙✝️

Today, the Catholic Church in Australia celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lady, Help of Christians — the Patroness of Australia. 🇦🇺🙏

The title “Help of Christians” has a long and beautiful history in the Church. It became especially known after Pope Pius VII returned safely to Rome after being imprisoned during the Napoleonic wars in the early 1800s. In gratitude for Our Lady’s protection and intercession, he established the feast of Mary Help of Christians on May 24.

When Catholicism first began in Australia, there were no Catholic priests allowed in the colony and the faithful relied greatly on Mary’s prayers and protection. In 1844, the Church in Australia chose Our Lady, Help of Christians, as the nation’s Patroness, entrusting this land and its people to her loving care.

Today, we honour Mary as a mother who walks beside us through every joy and sorrow, always leading us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. May she continue to protect our nation, our families and our Parish community with her constant love and intercession.

Our Lady, Help of Christians, pray for us.

Pentecost Sunday 🕊️🔥

Today, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles — the birth of the Church and the fulfilment of Christ’s promise. On this sacred day of Pentecost, may the fire of the Holy Spirit renew our hearts, strengthen our faith, and guide us to live as true disciples of Christ.

Just as the Spirit filled the Apostles with courage, wisdom, and peace, may He also fill our Parish Community with unity, love, and grace.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.”

Wishing all our parishioners and families a blessed and grace-filled Pentecost Sunday. ❤️🕊️

Today we remember the glorious Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ — not as a goodbye, but as a promise. As Christ ascended into Heaven, He opened the gates of eternal life for all who believe in Him.

The disciples stood looking toward the heavens, filled with awe, but Jesus did not leave them abandoned. He promised His presence always, through the Holy Spirit, through His Church, and through every moment of grace.

The Ascension reminds us that our true home is not of this world. We are called to lift our hearts higher, to walk in faith, and to keep our eyes fixed on Heaven even amidst the struggles of earth.

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?” — Acts 1:11
Because where Christ has gone, we hope one day to follow. ✨🤍
