St. Mary’s Indian Orthodox Cathedral - Melbourne, Australia

St. Mary’s Indian Orthodox Cathedral - Melbourne, Australia St. Mary's Indian Orthodox Cathedral is Australia's first Indian Orthodox Church. As a result, the St. The Cathedral has grown immensely over the years.

Beginning in the early 1970s, several Keralites migrated to Australia for better lives for themselves and their families. With the growing number of Orthodox families, the need was felt to establish a Church following Indian Orthodox tradition. Mary's Indian Orthodox Church (SMIOC) was established on 30th August 1980, at Coburg, Victoria and is the mother parish of all churches in the Oceania region. Starting with five families, the Cathedral has today grown to over 230 families.

** HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY 🌸**

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” — Book of Proverbs 31:25,28

Today, we thank God for the love, sacrifice, faith, and strength of all mothers. May the Lord continue to bless and uphold every mother and family.

The SMIOC MGOCSM & OCYM organised Mother’s Day cupcakes and cards for the mothers and grandmothers of the SMIOC family. Included in each card were heartfelt notes written by our Sunday School students in response to the prompt: “I love my mum because…”

Happy Mother’s Day from St Mary's Indian Orthodox Cathedral 🌸
