We all know Moonee Valley Sustainability crew, from their festivals, workshops, repairs, clean ups, recycling... their leadership and advocacy work is inspirational. The team are all volunteers but the org has some base costs for insurance and website and the like - if you can chuck a few bucks their way, they can keep their energy for changing the world...right here in Moonee Valley.

They are less than $300 bucks from their target and every little bit helps, please give if you can. 🌳✊🏽

A blessing for the Easter season

Risen Christ, you rise not apart from this land, but within it in old earth, in river song, in the breath of gum trees at dawn. You walk as Country restored, scarred yet living, broken yet rising. Teach us to see you here: in ancient stories, in resilient peoples, in the quiet healing of land and sp...

Brunch on from 10am today, we might do a breakfast grill on the bbq and light the fire pit.

Its a simple yet profound thing to gather, connect and share food together.

All welcome - bring some food to share if you're able.

This year brings a beautiful alignment of Lunar New Year, Lent and Ramadan beginning on the same day (tomorrow).

Marcus Curnow of Essendon Baptist who runs a community food pantry in Flemington and offers a beautiful intercultural reflection here on the importance of gathering together, preparing, and sharing abundant food, particulary as we know there are folks in our neighbourhood who experience scarcity.

All of these cultural communities have traditions around food - you might notice friends fasting, giving something up, eating overnight, moon cakes and hot cross buns... or you might be doing something along these lines yourself?

Love to hear what rhythms you and your family/community are enjoying in this season, or any reflections or memories this blog post might evoke...

The little faith community gathering is back in the Loft this Sunday from 10am. There are no pews, no big cross, no sermon, no singing, no evangelism. Its bring-a-plate brunch vibes.

"We seek to be cocreators of a world more ethical, sustainable, safe, just, equitable and inclusive. From the Temperance to today, community who meet in this place seek to grow and change ourselves, directing our work, resources, practice and thinking in the best interests of vulnerable communities, Creation, individuals and society towards restoration and balance.

In our space, language, priorities and posture we seek to position ourselves to be aligned with, and be spacemakers for, this intention."

Jan Richardson is an artist and poet who does lovely writing, for anyone looking for glimmers of light in dark places at the moment. We hope these words meet you where you are and bring ease.

A blessing for you, for these days.

WHAT THE NIGHT IS FOR

Oh my heart,
if we could cease working
on our sorrow
like we were trying
to stitch together
shattered glass.

This breaking
is not for fixing,
as though
if we could just find
the fitting tool,
everything would tumble
into its place,
joined and whole.

Perhaps it is time
to let the shards lie
where they have fallen.

Perhaps it is time
to let ourselves
sit and weep
over them.

And then perhaps
we scatter them—
into the soil,
into the sky,
it does not matter
where.

Let them take
their place.
Let them shimmer
like a constellation
in all that darkness—

sky-dark, soil-dark,
at home in that strange
and radiant solace
that knows
what the night
is for,

how it takes
the broken things
and sets them
shining
to light our way
from here.

Glenn Loughrey offers a beautiful prayer in gratitude for Treaty...

Creator Spirit,
we gather with thankful hearts,
grateful for this moment of truth and renewal.
The land breathes with us —
the rivers murmur with hope,
and the wind carries the songs of those
who dreamed this day into being.

We give thanks for the Ancestors,
who walked this land with courage and faith,
who spoke the truth when it was costly,
and who never let the flame of justice fade.

Today we rejoice in the passing of the Treaty —
a promise born of listening,
a step toward healing,
a new beginning grounded in respect.

May this Treaty bind us not in words alone,
but in relationships of honesty and care.
May it call us to walk gently on this Country,
to live rightly with one another,
and to honour the stories that hold us all.

We give thanks for all who have laboured
for truth-telling, recognition, and peace.
May their strength guide us,
their wisdom lead us,
and their spirit inspire us to continue the work.

Creator Spirit,
bless this land and its peoples.
Let gratitude be our prayer,
and justice our way of life.

Amen.

As we celebrate the passing of the First Treaty in the State of Victoria between the State and the First people’s here are two prayers giving thanks for this historic event. Please feel free to use with acknowledgement. Prayer ... Read More »
