A very large crowd with people from our parish both attending and volunteering at the annual Corpus Christi procession in the city Sunday 7th June. Many people spontaneously kneeling on the hard rock floor of Federation Square at the sight of the consecrated Eucharist, the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God our Creator, we pray:
for new mothers, coming to terms with new responsibility ;
for expectant mothers, wondering and waiting;
for those who are tired, stressed or depressed;
for those who struggle to balance the tasks of work and family;
for those who are unable to feed their children due to poverty;
for those whose children have physical, mental or emotional disabilities;
for those who raise children on their own;
for those who have lost a child;
for those who care for the children of others;
for those whose children have left home;
and for those whose desire to be a mother has not been fulfilled.
Bless all mothers, that their love may be deep and tender,
and that they may lead their children to know and do what is good,
living not for themselves alone, but for God and for others. Amen.

On World Day of Prayer for Vocations Sunday 26 April 2026 second year Seminarian Mason Crosier talked about the early influences that led to him entering the Seminary with the desire to become a priest. Mason, from the Sandhurst (Bendigo) region, is a regular visitor to St Mary's Ascot Vale. We are asked to keep Mason in our prayers, just as the Seminarians are praying for us.

The Parish Community Group will be holding morning tea after the 10.30am Mass at St Mary's next Sunday, 3rd May 2026.
We would like to invite everyone to come along and have a cuppa and something to eat, while chatting with fellow parishioners. It is always good to say hello to a person you haven't met before, as well as chat with other parishioners whom you do know.
If you would like to bring a plate of food to share, that would be a boost for catering and we will be very grateful. Everyone is welcome, new and old, so please come along!

This year has seen many Dioceses and parishes coping with the logistics of record numbers of RCIA candidates being Baptised and receiving the other Sacraments of Initiation- Confirmation and Eucharist. Our own Parish numbers have also been up and the Sacraments were a moving and real highlight of the Easter Vigil.

So we pray for our new Parish members Eric, Brayden, Zlatko, Graeme, Natalia and Isabel. Be sure you introduce yourself to any of these people when you see them. Remember that as members of this faith community we have an obligation to support each other, especially new members or those who walk in off the street in their own search for meaning and fulfilment. Are we welcoming and acting like a large family? Pray also for our facilitators Tony and Ana, who do a great job accompanying our candidates on their faith journey.

With Lent almost over our minds turn to the highlight of the Church year- Holy Week and the Sacred Paschal Triduum. Why not make a commitment to yourself to participate in all the events of Holy Week and make the week truly significant for yourself. And it's a good idea to go to Confession if you haven't been for a while. Normal times are Saturdays 10- 10.30am and 5.30- 5.45pm. Confessions will also be available Friday 20th March at St Mary's Church 7.30-8.00pm (Following Stations of the Cross), Sunday 29th March at St Margarets Church at 9.30am (following 8.30am Mass) and on Wednesday 25th March at St Mary's Church from 7.30 to 8.00pm (following 7.00pm Mass.)
