📣 ANNOUNCEMENT! 📣

We are so excited to see launched the A Year of Prayer on the Bible App, with all-new weekday devotionals for each weekly scripture.

Each Year of Prayer weekly scripture now has five individual Bible reflections, prayer and actions to match. Just search ‘A Year of Prayer’ on the App! We have just released Season One, with three more seasons to be launched next!

You can begin any time, and invite friends to do it with you. As you participate, the YouVersion App means can share comments and connect.

You can also choose to receive daily notifications to remind you to read the Bible, pray together and connect.

The devotions are accessible and can be read for Area Leadership Teams, or small groups, or meetings, or discipleship groups, or reflections, or gatherings, or anything you could imagine needing a simple Biblical thought, prayer and action.

A Year of Prayer | Week Fifty Two

Deuteronomy 4:1
Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your
ancestors, is giving you.

Pray and discern: This is where it gets real. Reflect on this year and share what God has said to you with the world.

Pray and discern: Seek first the Kingdom of God — what armour is God asking you to take off (like David), and put on (like Christians are called to)?

Action: Draw a picture of a soldier and a gardener, side by side. What do they share in common? What mistakes do they make? How might we be both as Christians - a gardener like our Creator God, and
a soldier like Christ has called us to be in The Salvation Army?

With a special message of sending out from our Territorial Leader Commissioner Miriam Gluyas, we will be inspired as a movement through sharing from around the territory about how A Year of Prayer has unfolded across the nation, through to Creative Brengle | The Salvation Army Australia performance presentations on the revelation of God.

We also note that our final Year of Prayer scripture is one of sending out, Deut 4:1 'Now go in and take possession of the land of the Lord', before embarking on a new season of prayer!

This verse was chosen over a year and a half ago as part of the series. However, given the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, we also wish to acknowledge the profound pain and suffering many are experiencing as a result of the war. This is a time that calls for our deepest compassion and earnest prayer as intercessions and lovers of Jesus.

In response, we have prepared a way to participate in a global 24-hour prayer event Friday October 25, focusing on the urgent needs in conflict-affected regions, including Israel and Palestine.

To guide our prayers, The Salvation Army International has provided the "Unshakable Foundation of God" series of devotions, which aim to help us find solace and strength in God’s word.

This scripture also serves as a reminder of our call as Christians to live out our faith with hope and love, extending our hearts to promote healing and understanding in a fractured world.

We invite you to join us in this day of prayer, and the Year of Prayer Celebration, as an act of seeking peace, reconciliation, and God’s presence.

Our final Sunday evening online zoom prayer meeting tonight heralds 52 weeks of prayer together as The Salvation Army Australia.

Each of our seasons of prayer was led by a different division throughout our territory, and Victoria Division’s Colonel Kelvin Merrett (pictured below) proves prayer in the kingdom of God turns things upside down!

Habakkuk 1:5
Look at the nations and watch — and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.

Pray and discern: Do you believe this Scripture is, and can be, true of The Salvation Army and your own life?

Pray and discern: Jesus, I know you are capable of your promises, your power to proclaim! Pray this three times a day.

Action: Write the word 'new' on a piece of paper. Pray together in a group and write what comes to your mind, no matter how 'out there' or silly.

Take your place in a time of 24 hours of prayer with us, as The Salvation Army Australia’s first A Year of Prayer draws to a close, before a new season begins.

Simply choose the half-hour slot that suits you, tick the box and you will get a notification that confirms this is your time to pray. As the time draws closer, you'll get a reminder of the time slot in the email address you provide. (Please check to see if it went in your Junk folder).

Pray where you are at home or with a group (please note there is no video link or meeting online), and we are so thankful for your prayers to God, as we commit to being a Jesus-Centred, Spirit-led movement to see the hope of God revealed.

We are joining on this day with The Salvation Army worldwide, who have been called to pray the whole day of October 25th, with a focus on ‘The Unshakeable Foundation of God’, and situations in conflict around the globe.

A Year of Prayer | Week Fifty

Mark 4:31-32
It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.

Pray and discern: How does small equal big in the Kingdom of God? Pray for fresh revelations.

Pray and discern: Find a plant or small seed (or buy one). Pray as you consider it. What is God teaching our church through caring for the planet, even in small ways?

Action: Take a photo of a tree or plant in your neighbourhood or yard. Commit to praying every time you go past it, and once you have prayed three times, share what God says with someone else.
