We often trust God with our eternity but not with our reality

The gifts found in the New Testament (NT) church, often referred to as "spiritual gifts," are diverse abilities and endowments bestowed by the Holy Spirit upon individuals for the purpose of building up the body of Christ (the Church). These gifts are primarily listed in three main passages: Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4, with additional gifts mentioned elsewhere in the New Testament. Here's a list combining these sources:

1. Wisdom (1 Corinthians 12:8) - The ability to understand and apply biblical and spiritual knowledge to complex situations in a godly manner. This is spiritual knowledge, which is illuminated information (at times).
2. Knowledge (1 Corinthians 12:8) - The gift of having a deep understanding of biblical truth and God's will, which can be shared with others for teaching and edification.
3. Faith (1 Corinthians 12:9) - Exceptional trust in God's promises, power, and presence, often manifested through prayer and reliance on God in difficult circumstances.
4. Healing (1 Corinthians 12:9, 28) - The miraculous ability to restore health without medical means.
5. Miracles (1 Corinthians 12:10, 28) - Performing supernatural acts demonstrating God's power.
6. Prophecy (Romans 12:6; 1 Corinthians 12:10, 28) - Proclaiming messages from God, often for the purpose of edification, encouragement, and warning.
7. Discernment/Distinguishing between spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10) - The ability to discern the spirit of truth and the spirit of error or to recognize the true source of a spiritual manifestation.
8. Tongues (1 Corinthians 12:10, 28) - The ability to speak in languages the speaker has not learned, especially as a sign for unbelievers or for prayer and praise.
9. Interpretation of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:10) - The ability to understand and interpret messages spoken in tongues.
10. Apostleship (Ephesians 4:11; 1 Corinthians 12:28) - Being sent to new territories with the gospel, establishing churches, and laying the foundation of the Christian faith.
11. Teaching (Romans 12:7; Ephesians 4:11) - Explaining and applying God's truth so others can learn and grow in their faith.
12. Helps (1 Corinthians 12:28) - Assisting in the needs of the church and its members, often behind the scenes, to support other ministries.
13. Administration (1 Corinthians 12:28) - Organising, directing, and implementing plans to lead others and manage the church's affairs effectively.
14. Evangelism (Ephesians 4:11) - Sharing the gospel with non-believers in a way that they come to accept Jesus as their Savior.
15. Pastor/Shepherd (Ephesians 4:11) - Caring for the spiritual welfare of a community of believers, guiding, protecting, and nurturing them.
16. Service/Ministry (Romans 12:7) - Identifying the needs of others and meeting those needs through practical help.
17. Encouragement (Romans 12:8) - Offering comfort, counsel, and encouragement so others feel uplifted and hopeful.
18. Giving (Romans 12:8) - Sharing material resources generously and without ulterior motives, often beyond the norm of expectation.
19. Leadership (Romans 12:8) - Leading others with diligence and dedication, often with a vision for the direction and growth of the church.
20. Mercy (Romans 12:8) - Demonstrating deep empathy and compassion for the suffering and needy, often involving personal action to relieve their distress.
21. Hospitality (1 Peter 4:9-10) - Welcoming and caring for those needing food, accommodation, and fellowship, often strangers or those without a home.

These gifts are given not for personal fulfilment or pride but for serving one another and glorifying God. The diversity of gifts reflects the diversity within the body of Christ, with each member contributing their unique abilities for the common good.

The mystery of unanswered and answered prayer is found in whether it is Gods glory or man’s.

1. John 14:13-14 (NIV): “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

2. James 4:3 (NIV): “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

3. 1 John 5:14-15 (NIV): “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

4. Matthew 6:33 (NIV): “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

5. 2 Corinthians 4:15 (NIV): “All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.”

6. Matthew 26:39 (NIV): “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.’”

7. Romans 8:28 (NIV): “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

These scriptures emphasise the importance of aligning our desires with God’s will, ensuring that our prayers aim not for our own glory but for His. They remind us that the heart of prayer is not about getting what we want, but about seeking a closer relationship with God and understanding His will for us.

Why the Ekklesia? (Matt 16 - the church)
• It’s Mobile – Where two or three are gathered, anywhere!
• It’s Cultural – It impacts every part of society.
• It’s Normal – It functioned as a lifestyle, not an event. A normal part of life.
• It’s Influential – As yeast influences the dough, the Ekklesia influences culture.
• It’s Relational – People-centered, not building-centered.
• It’s Responsible – Everyone has an assignment. No consumers.
• It’s Reproducible – Paul can be in Philippi one week and leave an Ekklesia there. Ekklesias reproduce quickly.
• It’s Reformational – Changed lives, changed families, changed cities.
• It’s Moral – Kingdom moral code was the glue that held it all together.
• It’s Governmental – Legislating and administrating through prayer, power, service, and love.
It’s Powerful – Signs/Wonders/Miracles/Healing/Deliverance.

I love the church. What a privilege to be a part of her. We as the church are coming into the greatest, most influencing season we’ve ever experienced.

One of the challenges we as the western church face right now is that reformation and revival are happening at the same time.

Reformation is Gods disruption of man made systems that replace our trust in God with trust for a system. The challenge with reformation is 2 fold. Firstly, often the thing that is being reformed was born of God through a man/woman and quite simple we stayed in it longer than we should have; we as human beings have a tendency to do that. Secondly, because most (including my own) liVe's are intermingled, intertwined with the 'way of doing things' that God is reforming and it is extremely hard to detach from that 'way' of doing. It must be said, Reformation is taking place right now in the western church. Old methods of discipleship, gatherings, connection and the like are being tested and a lot are being found that they simply don't work any more. The sacred cows of salvation alter calls, Sunday services, small groups (nothing wrong with those things) but do they work, more importantly do we have the prophetic insight and the objectivity to zoom out and look at things, detached from them for the sake of change….

You might ask why? Everything seems fine! Our way of church life is fine? True (in a lot of cases) but this is a call to the prophets and apostles of our time to dream again. We aren’t asking it for ourselves but for the future of the church.
The biblical story that comes to mind is when God asks Abram to come out of his tent to see the potential of what God wants to release through him. Only out of the tent can Abram even begin to see, let alone comprehend the enormity of what YHWH is doing. That’s what I sense God is calling us to. God is inviting us out of the comfort of what we know, what we are dependent upon and look up for a fresh vision. A world changing vision.

Let me be clear good things are happening in the church at this time. Things that are miraculous, things that can only be a work of God's Spirit. That’s what makes this process so challenging. Revival and reformation coexist. God is reforming the very thing that is being used to revive people.

My prayer is that we would have hearts to discern what God is doing in this time. Please Fathers and Mothers of the faith, Hero's of the faith, Apostolic fathers of this generation remember the challenges you faced with the fathers that you sat under. Remember when drums in church were evil. When you experienced push back for your progression. When they resisted your revelation. This generation don't need CEO's, they need spiritual fathers that disciple into the image of Jesus not the image of man. We don’t need more people to be 'our style' we need people that move in power and that know the Spirit.
Reformation is coming, revival is now, we must have discernment so that we do not abort what God is birthing or birth what God is aborting.

When you know what you are called to do you know what to say no to

Retreat/rest/seclusion (and all that fills that ie prayer) often, it’s your source of power from God….ask Jesus.

Rest is for the living, sleep is for the dead. What you do (or don’t do) determines the value of down time
