🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

➡️ WHY SHOULD WE WORSHIP🙏LORD GANESHA?

As a Vedic God, presence of Lord Ganapathi has been felt in all cosmic ages and has been eulogized by Vedic scripts.

While several pAuranic scripts like Varaha Purana have made reference to Lord Ganesha, specific scripts viz. Sri Ganesha Purana, Mudgala Purana (both Upa Puranas) are exclusively dedicated to Lord Ganapathi.

As a leader of Ganas (divine groups) Ganapathi is considered as an elderly God though basically a demi-God. He has been conferred with a unique prominence as a potent God to be worshiped before worshiping any other God.

A great devotee of Lord Sri Hari, Ganapaty a Vishnu Parivaara Devata having visesha Vaayu aavesha is an adorable God the one who has abundant anugraha of Lord SriHari.

Viswambhara naamaka Paramatma, Lord Vishnu's Viswa Taijasa roopa (Lord Sri Hari) is upaAsana moorthy of Lord Ganesha.

As TattvaAbhimani Devata of Aakaasa Tattva Ganapati is placed in 18th Kakshya as per Tattvavada Taratamya along with Vishvaksena - Kubera....

As Abhimani Devata of Aakaasa; Ganesha also becomes Abhimani Devata for Shabda (Srotrendriya) which is a Tattva (quality) of AakaAsa.

Worship of Lord Ganapathi is prevailing since time immemorial perhaps since Vedic times. There are several historical and pouranic references to the worship of Lord Ganesha and we find several divine personalities having worshiped Lord Ganapathi on different occasions for various reasons.

Lord Vishnu in his incarnations as Sri Rama and Sri Krishna worshiped Lord Ganapathi for Loka Kalyana and to maintain the loka-reeti. As per the directions of Lord Sri Krishna, DharmaRaja worshipped Lord Ganesha after becoming Chakravarthi.

During DwaparaYuga, Ganapati incarnated as Charudeshna born as son of Lord Sri Krishna;

Lord Ganesha is the divine script writer who assisted Sri Vedavyasa Devaru the divine literary incarnation of Lord Vishnu in composition of the great epic MahaBharata.

Worship of Vishnu ParivaAra Devatas like Ganapati, Rudra Subramanya etc.should not be ignored. They should be worshipped appropriately with proper anusandhana and as per Taratamya; while focus should always be on...
> Hari Sarvottama - BharatiramanaMukhyaPraanaAntargatha.

Lord Ganesha has played a significant role behind the origin of famous Theertha Kshethras (pilgrimage) of Lord Shiva at Gokarna (Aatma Linga Kshetra) and that of Lord Sri Ranganatha Swamy at Sri Rangam (Anthya Ranga Kshethra) near Trichy.

As Vighneshwara, Lord of Vignas (obstacles), Lord Ganesha is controller of obstacles and destroyer of miseries of his devotees.

Sri Jagannatha Dasaru has euloziged Lord Ganesha in an exclusive chapter in HarikathamruthaSaara VighneswaraStothra Sandhi;

Lord Ganesha is Abhimaani Devatha for Chaturthi thithi;

Lord Ganesha is known as Kshipra PrasaAdi the one who grants wishes of his devotees very quickly;

Lord Ganesha's anugraha is very much required for correct articulation to the mind and assimilation of the Supreme Tattva GnyaAna of the Supreme God - Hari Sarvottama and Bhakti on Lord Sri Hari.

Worship of Lord Ganesha helps an individual to get good education, knowledge, intelligence (discriminative) and wisdom.

Anusandhana.....

Sri Anu Raghavendra Stotra

“Anu” means “short” or “concise.”. The Anu Raghavendra Stotra is a short and powerful hymn in praise of Sri Raghavendra Swamigalu. It is popularly recited by devotees for Guru’s grace, Protection from difficulties, Knowledge and devotion, Peace of mind and spiritual upliftment.

This stotra is considered a shorter companion to the famous “Sri Raghavendra Stotra” composed by Appannacharya

Lord of Vignas, Vighneswara, Sri Ganesha is controller of obstacles and destroyer of miseries of his devotees.
Sri Ganapathi anugraha/blessings are very much required for...

> acquiring vidya;
> keeping mind focused/under control;
> acquiring discriminative intelligence;
> developing leadership skills;
> to mitigate vipareeta jn~aana;
> to overcome obstacles/aberrations in the path to realisation;
> to overcome/keep under control the negative passions;
> for hassle-free progress in life;

Lord Ganesha's worship/anugraha/blessings are very much required to mitigate Vipareeta Jn~aAna and to know/learn yathaArtha jn~aAna ie., "Hari SArvottamatva-Vaayu Jeevottamatva"

Even in Moksha saadhana, Ganapati anugraha is very much required to eliminate the obstacles in saadhana maarga,

SarvaKaaryeshu Sarvaadaa....

in all actions, in every activity, everywhere,

at all times, always, ever,

nitya, naimittika, kaamya karma,

dharma kaarya, pithru kaarya, moksha saadhana

whatever sadhana we do, to reach the goal we should get unto the milestones without break, obstacles, failures and pitfalls. These can be avoided only by Sri saadhana with proper anusandhana.

When any worship is done without thinking of Vishnu sannidhana inside, no devata (Ganapathi here) will accept it. Such puja is called asuri-puja. Such puja results in diseases, robbery and in tumultuous situation with disasters. Hence one should *always* worship the Vishnu who is (antaryaami) in all devatas.

Anusandhana for worshiping Ganesha should be...

Sri GanapatiAntargatha-Paasha naamaka Vaayu Antargatha
Sri ViswaroopaViswambharayaNamaha- VISWA naamaka Paramaatma.

🌱*PARANA*
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Parana means breaking the fast. Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on next day of Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence.

Parana should not be done during Hari Vasara. One should wait for Hari Vasara to get over before breaking the fast. Hari Vasara is first one fourth duration of Dwadashi Tithi. The most preferred time to break the fast is Pratahkal. One should avoid breaking the fast during Madhyahna.

🌱AJA EKADASHI
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

“Vratagallelavu ekadashi vratava hinde”

— All the vrathas are behind Ekadashi vratha. Whether one following any vrata/anushtana or not that doesnt matter, Definitely one should do fasting on ekadashi

Purandara dasara lyrics says as follows:“Hari dinadali unda nararige Kora naraka thappudhendhu sruthi saruthalidhe”
— The lines say, one who ate on ekadashi day will definitely will go to Naraka (punarapi jananam, punarapi maranam) as told by vedas

🌱Why is there so much importance on Ekadashi.

According to Hindu scriptures, sansara is the endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth. The periodic emergence, dissolution and re-emergence of all existences has been described in shlokas from 8.17 to 8.19 of the Bhagavad Gita. These are narrated by none other than Lord Shri Krishna (remember We just celebrated Krishna Janmashtami with fun and furore)

Rebirth is the law of nature. One who has taken birth is bound to die; and after death, he is sure to take birth again.

One can, however, be freed from this painful continuation of repeated births through sincere spiritual practices, remembering supreme lord all the time and especially at the time of death.

BG 8.6 Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, O son of Kunti, that state he will attain without fail.

BG 8.5 And whoever at the time of death, quits his body, remembering Me alone, at once attains My nature, of this there is no doubt.

BG 8.1 Therefore all the times O Arjuna remember Me, then you will surely attain Me.

Our great dasaru also have written so many keerthanas:

ಶರಣು ಹೊಕ್ಕೆನಯ್ಯ ಎನ್ನ
ಮರಣ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ
ಚರಣ ಸ್ಮರಣೆ ಕರುಣಿಸಯ್ಯ ನಾರಾಯಣ||1||

sharaNu hokkenayya yenna
maraNa samayadalli ninna
carana smaraNe karuNisayya nArAyaNa ||

Meaning : O nArAyaNa, I pray you to remind me of your name at the time of my death.

But… To make us understand how painful death is, Garuda Purana says that at the time of death, a person experiences pain equivalent to 42,000 scorpion bites. It looks like death is not just painful physically but also emotionally.

So how do we remember almighty when the situation is so tough?

Only with practice! It’s a a Sadhana… yagna.

Ekadashi Vrata and rituals is also a means to prepare physically and emotionally to focus Lord Shri Hari….. by practicing it consistently fortnight after fortnight….

1. Mentally: By rejecting the news, social media, good food, movies, relatives (or anything you see around you) and be completely focused on Lord Shri Hari
2. Physically: By practicing fasting, rejecting hunger and continuing to remember lord Shri Hari

so that at the time of death one can acquire the physical and mental strength/practice to remember the Lord Shri Hari by controlling the senses.

Aja Ekadashi or Ananda Ekadashi is the eleventh day of the dark phase (Krishna Paksha) of the Lunar fortnight in the Hindu month of Shravana. Like the other 23 Ekadashis of the year, Aja Ekadashi also has a specific significance and a vrat katha.

In this month of Sharavana , auspicious Aja Ekadashi is entirely dedicated to Lord Vishnu and goddesses Laxmi.

🌱Puranic References

According to the scriptures, Chakravarti King Harishchandra had regained his lost family and kingdom by fasting on this day.

According to one of the legends, the Aja Ekadashi vrat finds a mention in the Brahmavaivarta Purana. According to the Katha, there lived an honest, generous and an able king named Harishchandra.

Harishchandra is a legendary Indian king of the Ikshvaku dynasty, who appears in several legends in texts such as Aitareya Brahmana, Mahabharata, the Markandeya Purana, and the Devi-Bhagavata Purana. The most famous of these stories is the one mentioned in Markandeya Purana. According to this legend, Harishchandra gave away his kingdom, sold his family and agreed to be a slave – all to fulfill a promise he had made to the sage Vishwamitra.

Raja Harishchandra was 33rd descendant of Ikshvaku family. Bhagiratha was 44th and Lord Shri Rama 63rd.

King Harishchandra lived in the Treta Yuga . He was an honest, noble king. His slaves enjoyed prosperity and peace. He had a queen named Shaivya (also called Taramati) and a son named Rohitashva. Once, while on a hunting expedition, he heard the cries of a woman asking for help. Armed with a bow and arrow, he went in the direction of the sound. The sound was an illusion created by Vighnaraja, the lord of the obstacles. Vighnaraja was trying to disturb the tapasya (meditation) of the sage Vishwamitra. When he saw Harishchandra, he entered the king's body and started abusing Vishwamitra. This disturbed Vishwamitra's tapasya, and destroyed all the knowledge that the sage had acquired during this tapasya.

Circumstances compelled him to work at a crematorium. He did his job with utmost devotion, but he was devastated from within.

The king wondered what wrong he did and why has he been punished. One day, when Rishi Gautam saw him, he instantly recognised him as Harishchandra, the king. And after learning about his pitiable situation, the Rishi asked him to observe the Aja Ekadashi vrat.

He said that the king may have sinned in his previous birth and the struggles in his present life could be a result of his Karma. Therefore, the Rishi suggested Harishchandra must observe vrat on Aja Ekadashi to rid himself of the burden of any wrong he may have done in the past or previous births.

Harishchandra followed the Rishi's advise with sincere devotion. And soon, he reaped the fruits. He got his kingdom back also found his lost family.

Wish you all auspicious Aja Ekadashi 🙏

न काशी न गया गंगा न रेवा च गौथमी
न चापि कौरवंक्षेत्रं, तुल्यम्भूपहरेद्रिनाथ।

> Meaning: Padmapuraanam says that sacred rivers like Ganga, Narmada, Godavari etc. and holy places like Kashi, Gaya, Kurushetra etc., cannot equal the merit of Ekaadasi Vratha.

WHY EKAADASI FASTING?

> It is Haridina-meant for spritual activity only.
> Food will not be digested since the moon is not in full glory.
> Shrimad Acharya has prescribed fasting, so it is mandatory to us.
> Its observance reduces all sins to ashes.
> Fasting tones up our health and gets our body and the mind ready for spiritual sadhana.

Ekaadasi Vratha begins with the sankalpa on the Dasami day, fasting on the Ekaadasi day and parane on Dwaadasi day. Since it is spread over three days it goes by the name Dinathraya or three-day Vratha.

All together for three days, you will be forbidden four meals. Even on Dasami and dvadasi, You are not allowed to eat meals for the dinner

EkAdashi vrata begins with the sankalpa on the dashami (tenth) day. after performing sandhyavandane, the sankalpa mantra to be chanted as a sankalpa and seek blessings (pysical, mental and spiritual) to be able to perform the vrata.

Observance of Ekadashi is regarded as a sacred vrata dedicated to Lord Vishnu and performed with emphasis on Hari Bhakti, inner purity, and scripturally ordained discipline. The vrata is generally observed over three days — Daśami, Ekādaśi, and Dvādaśi.

Three-Day Ekadashi Anuṣṭhāna

> Day 1 – Daśami (Previous Day Preparation)

* One should partake of a simple and sattvic meal only once during the day, preferably before sunset.
* Rice, grains, pulses, beans, onion, garlic, and tāmasic foods are avoided from Daśami itself.
* The mind should gradually be withdrawn from worldly distractions and directed towards remembrance of Hari and Guru Parampara.
* Devotees prepare for the vrata through:
* Sandhyāvandana
* Devaranāma recitation
* Vishnu Sahasranāma pāraayaṇa
* Reading scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavata Purana.

> Day 2 – Ekādaśi Vrata

* Rise during Brahma Muhūrta, perform snāna, Sandhyāvandana, and worship of Sri Hari with devotion.
* Chanting of:
* “Om Namo Nārāyaṇāya”
* “Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya”
* Vishnu Sahasranāma
is highly encouraged.
* According to one’s ability and āchāra, the vrata may be observed as:
* Nirjala Ekādaśi – complete fast without water
* Phalahāra – fruits and milk only
* Anukalpa – permitted Ekādaśi foods such as milk, fruits, nuts, sabudāna, or certain root vegetables.
* Strictly avoided:
* Rice and all grains
* Pulses and beans
* Tāmasic foods
* Meat, alcohol, to***co, and indulgent activities.
* The day should be dedicated to:
* Hari Smaraṇa
* Japa and dhyāna
* Temple darśana
* Listening to Harikathā
* Reading sacred granthas.
* Daytime sleep, anger, gossip, and excessive worldly engagement are discouraged.

> Day 3 – Dvādaśi Pāraṇa

* The fast must be concluded during the prescribed Dvādaśi pāraṇa kāla according to the Panchāṅga.
* Pāraṇa is performed with humility and prayer, offering gratitude to Sri Vishnu.
* Traditionally, the fast is broken with a simple sattvic meal, often beginning with:
* Tulasi tīrtha
* Avalakki (flattened rice) or prescribed pāraṇa food according to family tradition.
* Feeding Brāhmaṇas, cows, or offering charity is considered highly meritorious.

🌱For consideration

* The essence of Ekādaśi is not merely fasting from food, but increasing devotion to Hari.
* Those who are elderly, pregnant, unwell, or medically restricted may observe a simplified vrata with fruits and milk according to capacity.
* Observance should always be done with śraddhā (faith), śaucha (purity), and Hari Bhakti rather than physical hardship alone.
* Households often follow guidance from their family guru, maṭha tradition, or regional āchāra regarding permitted foods and pāraṇa timings.
