🌸 Good morning, everyone! Our journey together continues today, reminding us that true peace doesn't come from trying to change the outside world, but from shining the light of peace within.

In our busy daily activities, it is so easy to react without mindfulness. Today, let us make a different choice. Let us choose to walk through this day with patience, to speak with gentle kindness, and to anchor our minds in the present moment. Every step taken with mindfulness is a step that heals the world.

Today is going to be our peaceful day.
May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace. 🙏

🪷 Buddhistdoor Quote for Today: — S. N. Goenka (1924–2013) 🪷

✨ Every sensation shares the same characteristic: It arises and passes away, arises and passes away. It is this arising and passing that we have to experience through practice, not just accept as truth because the Buddha said so, not just accept because intellectually it seems logical enough to us. We must experience sensation’s nature, understand its flux, and learn not to react to it. — S. N. Goenka (1924–2013) ✨

Buddhist Rains Retreat
Vassa/Varsavasa

The Rains Retreat in Buddhism, also known as Vassa in Pali and Varṣāvāsa in Sanskrit, began with the Buddha’s response to the Indian monsoon. Buddha instructed monks to stay indoors to avoid harming living creatures on a waterlogged path and also not to be taken as a threat while visiting lay people to receive alms.

Monastics would settle in a sheltered location for about three months and start intensive practice. This annual retreat became an essential aspect of monastic life and is practised in various forms across the Theravāda, Mahāyāna, and Vajrayāna traditions. Today is about the Theravada tradition.
Theravāda Rains Retreat (Vassa)

Lay devotees can deepen their support by supplying daily alms and observing stricter precepts, strengthening their bond with the Saṅgha.
Vassa is thus a time of renewal for both monks and lay people. Many Theravādian families encourage temporary ordinations or intensive practice during this “Buddhist Lent.”

Buddhistdoor Quote for Today: Master Sheng Yen (1931–2009)

Nirvana is not a thing; nirvana is when you personally experience, and understand, and recognize that everything is void, or empty. Through the practice, you gradually come to experience that there is no real space or time that you can hold on to. So you can say that nirvana is the result of practice, but it is not a result of something changing into something else. — Master Sheng Yen (1931–2009)
