Please join us for the Ash Wednesday livestream Mass, 17 February at 6.30pm.

16/02/2021

Ash Wednesday begins a holy season for Christians, and especially Catholics.
Jesus gives us three words to focus on: Almsgiving, Prayer and Fasting.
One is not better than the other: all three are necessary.
Because of the present lockdown churches are closed and no public Ash Wednesday Masses will be held. At St Clare's we will be live-streaming the Ash Wednesday Mass at 6:30pm. The ashes will be blessed at that Mass and their distribution will take place at a later date.
There are many who do not have the opportunity to go to Mass, for whatever reason, and maybe we can offer this day as a sacrifice and connect with those who are regularly prevented from being able to attend a Eucharistic celebration.

All Saints Day - 1 November

“Seeing the crowds, Jesus went up the hill. There he sat down and was joined by his disciples. Then he began to speak. This is what he taught them:
‘How happy are the poor in spirit;
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Happy the gentle:
they shall have the earth for their heritage.
Happy those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right:
they shall be satisfied.
Happy the merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
Happy the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Happy the peacemakers:
they shall be called sons of God.
Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right:
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
‘Happy are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.’ Matthew 5:1-12
