Six parishes have received KidsPlus+ Children’s Ministry Support Packages, alongside support for Mustard Leadership Australia’s work with girls’ schools and emerging female leaders.

With thanks to GFS Melbourne Inc. and KidsPlus+ for their generosity.

Prayer beyond church walls.

During Thy Kingdom Come, Archbishop Ric joined prayer walks — walking local streets, praying for communities, and asking God’s kingdom to come.

Come, Holy Spirit.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As we prepare for Thy Kingdom Come, Archbishop Ric reflects on the simple but powerful call at the heart of this global movement of prayer: “Come, Holy Spirit.”

This year marks ten years of Thy Kingdom Come — a movement that has encouraged Christians across the world to pray intentionally for others to come to know the love of Jesus Christ.

There is also a special connection here in Melbourne. Archbishop Ric recently discovered that the Pray for 5 initiative was first conceived around the dining room table at Bishopscourt — a simple idea born in prayer, inviting people to faithfully pray for five people in their lives to come to faith in Jesus.

Across Melbourne and Geelong, churches and communities will be gathering to pray, walk their neighbourhoods, and seek God together for renewal, mission and the work of the Holy Spirit.

“Prayer sits at the centre of mission. Before strategy, before plans, before programmes — we pray.”

So this year, the question is simple: who are your five?

Archbishop Ric Thorpe shares an update as the Diocese moves from Listening in Lent into A Season of Discernment.

More than 2,500 people across Melbourne and Geelong have taken part in Listening in Lent — sharing prayerfully, honestly and thoughtfully about the future of our Diocese.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Your wisdom, encouragement and reflections are helping shape this shared journey of discernment together.

As we now move into A Season of Discernment, please continue praying:
• for wisdom and clarity
• for courage and unity
• and for God’s leading in the season ahead.

We believe God is already at work among us.

As the Diocese moves from Listening in Lent into a new Season of Discernment, Archbishop Ric Thorpe reflects on the journey so far — and the shared calling a...
