This Sunday: 1 Peter 2:4-10

What God said of national Israel in the Old Covenant, he now says of the Church in the New Covenant. The Kingdom has been taken away from one and given to the other. Some call this , but it's really .

The church is not an interim period in history before God goes back to his main focus of the Jews. The church is what will continue into eternity; the true Israel that has always been made up of those who live by faith.

This Sunday: Atonement - How God Saves

The most glorious doctrine in the Bible is the doctrine of atonement. It displays God's love, holiness, righteousness, mercy and grace. Without it nothing in the Bible makes sense, and if it had not happened all of God's promises would have come to nothing. Salvation rests upon it, and without it we have no Gospel.

This Sunday: Remember Yor Creator (Ecclesiastes 11:9-12:14)
Very few of us will be remembered on this earth generations after we have returned to the dust. Jesus said that those who remember their Creator, will be remembered by him (Luke 12:8).

Two years before the man buried underneath this headstone died, he confronted a rebellious teenager and said to him, “Tom what are you going to do with Jesus?” That night, Tom prayed, heaven rejoiced, and so began eight decades of other people hearing about Jesus through the lips of Tom.

Don’t wait until they’re carving your headstone before you remember your Creator.

This Friday at Friday Feed: The freedom to be forgiven. (Matthew 5:21-26)

Forgiveness always starts with self-examination.. We cannot take the speck from our brother's eye until we have the log taken from our eye. It's got nothing to do with 'forgiving myself,' but knowing how because of Christ, God's grace covers a multitude of sins, and that my first responsibility is to seek forgiveness both from Him and from my neighbour. Forgiving others requires humility, but it's a humility that must start with receiving forgiveness.

This Sunday: Essential Christian Doctrines #6
Your Adversary the Devil: Satan and evil

Contrary to popular imagination, Satan is not the source of all evil. Also country to popular imagination, we know little about Satan's origins; however we do know clearly his role and strategies, and how believers must respond to him, standing in the victory we have in the crucified and risen Christ.

This Friday at Friday Feed: a new series on forgiveness.

Biblically, there is not such thing as 'unconditional forgiveness'. God does not ignore, downplay or just forget sin. He forgives because the penalty for sin has been paid by the shed and precious blood of Christ. Our forgiveness is conditional upon justification in Christ being applied to us by the Holy Spirit, producing the fruit of repentance and confession. Knowledge of my justification in Christ gives me the freedom and confidence to confess my sins to God, because I know that forgiveness is guaranteed.

This Sunday: Glorified Dust: The Doctrine of Humanity.

Jesus shows us in an exchange with the Pharisees over the Sabbath what the ultimate purpose of human being are: to enjoy the Sabbath Rest of God. Our true and full humanity is found not only in the creational design, but in the Last Adam, Jesus Christ. All that sin undid and corrupted, by his death and resurrection he has restored for all who have faith in him. The true Prophet, Priest and King, he restores us in himself back to our high human calling.
