People of faith are coming together to stand alongside Pacific Neighbours. Will you be there?

On 9 October, Phil Buehler's Wall of Tears - a public artwork memorialising the 18,457+ children killed in Gaza between October 7, 2023 and July 19, 2025 - will launch in Sydney (Pitt St Uniting Church), before remaining on public exhibition through 28 October.

The launch will feature reflections from:
Chris Sidoti — International human rights lawyer
Dr Saiba Hussain — Volunteer medical worker in Gaza
Suzan Wahhab — President, Palestinian Christians in Australia

Australia is one of the world’s largest fossil fuel exporters, while our Pacific neighbours are already experiencing devastating impacts of climate change.

Ahead of the Pre-COP Summit in Fiji this October, Australian people of faith are joining with ARRCC and other faith communities to stand alongside Pacific leaders calling for a planned global phase-out of fossil fuels.

Here are three ways you can stand in solidarity:

1. Join a local gathering — Tuesday 6 October
Public gatherings will be held across Australia ahead of the Pre-COP Summit. Save the date and find your local gathering:
Cairns — 9:30am, Guru Nahak Sikh Temple
Brisbane — 10am, St John’s Anglican Cathedral
Newcastle — 10am, Christ Church Cathedral
Sydney — 10am, Leigh Memorial Uniting Church
Melbourne — 10am, St Michael’s Uniting Church
Adelaide — 9:15am, Pilgrim Uniting Church

2. Sign the multi-faith petition
Add your voice to the international call for a planned global phase-out of fossil fuels.
Sign as an individual or faith leader
Sign on behalf of your church or institution

3. Share the call
Help this message travel further. Share the campaign with your church, faith community and networks, and encourage others to sign and attend.

Thank you Sydney Presbytery for the seed funding. And thank you Mitch from Patch to Plate Living.
Hope's community garden for the community.

And thank you all who took part in a bit of gardening today :) We now have a lemonade tree and strawberry guava tree along with herbs and other veggies. 🌿🍅🥬🌽🥔🍋

Tomorrow we gather at 4pm...and our worship will involve a bit of gardening pending weather.

Today, while much of Australia gets ready for the AFL Grand Final, some women and children are preparing for something very different.

Watching moods.
Watching the drinking.
Watching the betting.
Wondering what happens if a team wins or loses.

We are thinking of them today.

If something feels wrong, trust your gut. If it is safe to do so, call someone you trust, make a plan, or go somewhere you feel safer.

Footy does not cause domestic violence. Alcohol does not cause domestic violence. Gambling does not cause domestic violence. The person using violence is responsible.

But we also need to ask uncomfortable questions about a sporting culture surrounded by industries that profit from alcohol and gambling both of which can intensify existing risk and harm.

So today, enjoy the footy but also check on your sister, your friend, your neighbour.

Today 21 September is the International Day of Peace.

But peace is not just a slogan or a quiet room.

There is no peace without Indigenous justice.

Not while Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to die in custody.
Not while Indigenous children are locked up.
Not while families are still fighting for answers, accountability and change.

There is no peace in detention.
There is no peace in displacement.
There is no peace in occupation, war or forced removal.

From Australia to Palestine, Sudan and Congo, peace has to mean more than asking people to be quiet.

It has to mean safety. Dignity. Freedom. Justice.

No Indigenous justice, no peace.
No refugee justice, no peace.
No justice, no peace. 🕊️
