Justice 2026 Doing Justice Anglican Church Southern Queenslandcalls us to be a community shaped by compassion, dignity, and hope. Week by week, meal by meal, story by story, we see that shaping happening among us.

This week at our Community Meal, our Food for Thought invited us to remember that God is shaping each of us into something beautiful.

A Picasso masterpiece begins with simple brushstrokes. A stunning sculpture often starts as a rough, unshaped tree trunk. We admire the finished work, but we forget where it began.

Sometimes we feel a bit like that rough timber — uneven, unfinished, still becoming. Yet God sees more than what is visible today. With patient, loving hands, He keeps shaping, sanding, forming, and renewing us.

Wherever you find yourself on the journey, take heart: you’re not finished yet, and that’s more than okay. The Master Artist is still at work.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” — Ephesians 2:10

Giving thanks to Dwayne & Jen for their masterpiece - what a gift!

Deep gratitude for our incredible team and partners who make this ministry possible — OzHarvest Banjo's Bakery Cafe, and all who give, serve, and show up with love.

This week’s meal included Chicken Burritos generously provided by Matthew Flinders Anglican College(thank you dear friends), along with vege stir fry, mash potato/pumpkin, sweet carrots, grilled tomatoes, veggie bake, salad, and buttered bread. Dessert was apple crumble, custard, and ice‑cream.

Our St Peter’s compassionate care team and IFYS staff were present again this week, offering practical support, listening ears, and a calm, caring presence for anyone who needed it.

Daily Rev Up – Come Thither This Thursday

Inspired by last night’s food for thought at our community meal: A Picasso painting begins with simple brushstrokes. A beautiful sculpture often starts as a rough, unshaped tree trunk. We admire the finished masterpiece but often forget where it began.

Sometimes we can feel a little rough around the edges ourselves. Yet God sees more than what is visible today. With loving hands, He continues shaping us into something beautiful.

So wherever you are on the journey, remember: you’re not finished yet, and that’s okay. The Master Artist is still at work.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” — Ephesians 2:10

Have a blessed Thursday!

On Monday 8 June, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, causing serious damage in General Santos City and surrounding areas.

At least 37 people have been killed and buildings, roads and bridges have been destroyed. Authorities continue to search for the missing; tens of thousands of people have been displaced.

ABM staff have been in contact with Anglican partners in the Philippines, ECP.Official and Vimrod Ifi, and so far they confirm there has been no direct impact on their staff or communities.

🙏 Let us pray:

Lord, we hold before you all those affected by the recent earthquake centred off Mindanao in the southern Philippines.

Receive any who lost their lives into your loving embrace.

Uphold all whose housing or businesses have been damaged or destroyed.

Help the authorities to repair roads and bridges, and restore the provision of electricity, especially to hospitals.

Give strength to the people as they endure not only the physical circumstances surrounding the quake, but the psychological resilience needed to cope with any aftershocks.

We ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

This week, some of our team attended a Mental Health First Aid refresher course. It was a valuable opportunity to fine-tune our skills, update our resources, and strengthen our ability to provide appropriate care, support, and response to those we minister alongside in our community.

We are grateful for opportunities like these that help us continue creating safe, welcoming, and supportive spaces where people can be heard, valued, and connected with the help they need.

Our Daily Rev Up! Wednesday Wonders – The Wonder of Touch and Connection

This morning, my floki boy 🐾 rested his paws on my feet. Such a simple moment, yet a beautiful reminder of the wonder of touch and connection. Sometimes the gentlest touch reminds us that we are seen, loved, and not alone.

God created us for connection—with Him and with one another. In moments of companionship, comfort, and care, we catch a glimpse of His presence.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.” — Isaiah 41:10

Today, wonder at the gift of connection, and remember that wherever you go, God is with you.

Our Daily Rev-Up – Two for Tuesday: Wisdom & Knowledge

Today’s two-for-Tuesday is wisdom and knowledge. They go together, but they’re not the same thing.

Knowledge is knowing the facts. Wisdom is knowing what to do with them.

We can have all the knowledge in the world, yet still struggle to make good decisions, navigate relationships, or live well. God’s wisdom helps us apply what we know in ways that bring life, hope, and purpose.

As Proverbs reminds us:

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” — Proverbs 2:6

Knowledge fills the mind, but wisdom shapes the heart and guides our steps. When we seek God’s wisdom, He gives us not only understanding but also insight into how to live each day.

So today, don’t just ask for more knowledge—ask God for wisdom to use what you already know.

Go well, and may God’s wisdom guide your path today.

Our Daily Rev Up! Monday Motivation with Navigation

Recently, I was heading somewhere and Siri took me the back way. I was convinced I was lost and being led astray! The route didn’t look right, and I wondered where on earth I was going. I wanted to change direction and rerouting swirled on my screen. But I trusted the navigation, and sure enough, I arrived exactly where I needed to be.

Life with God can feel like that sometimes. The path isn’t always the one we expected, but God sees the destination when we can only see the next turn.

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” — Proverbs 16:9

When life seems to be saying, “Rerouting,” trust the Navigator. God knows the way.
