As we begin to explore the gospel of John we see the author, once known as the 'Son of Thunder' completely reshaped by the transforming power of God's love, so that John's identity becomes 'the disciple that Jesus loved'. John's demonstrates his zeal as he powerfully writes about Jesus - not as a baby in Bethlehem as other gospel writers - but the eternal God, Creator and perfect revelation of the Father.
Jesus is the Light who enters our darkness with life, hope and truth. Jesus' love transforms ordinary, broken people - just as it transformed John.
Today may you receive Jesus' love personally, not as a theory, but as John did: as the love that reshapes identity.
May you also declare, like John:

"I am the disciple Jesus loves"

Here we are in 2026 and interestingly, the Hebrew number for God, YHWH, is 26!
So this year let's decide to make more room and time for our great and gracious God.
May we consider the new life in the Spirit we now have through Jesus Christ, His life, death and resurrection, and how we might get ready for Jesus' return.
Hebrew 10:19-25 gives 5 things to focus on.
