Please join me in praying for the Holy Father’s recovery and healing. May the Lord’s tender and merciful love provide every peace, comfort and consolation. And may our Blessed Mother be ever close to him, carrying him in her gentle care.

We celebrate the dignity and splendour of angels and ask for their protection on this feast of the Holy Guardian Angels.

As God created the heavens and the earth together, so we co-exist with angels, and they with us.

‘Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life,’ said St Basil. With this consolation in our hearts, let us go forward secure in the knowledge that we are never truly alone.

St Thérèse of Lisieux knew from an early age that each of us is called to sainthood. As a young child in France, Thérèse wanted to perform heroic deeds, but on entering a Carmelite convent she soon realised that her real goal was to do the will of Jesus.

The Doctor of the Church left behind a remarkable autobiography, 'Story of a Soul', which revealed her simple steps on the road to sanctity. Thérèse understood clearly that the most important gift of all was charity – openness, forgiveness, love – centred on the person of Jesus Christ.

She wrote, 'Charity gave me the key to my vocation. My vocation is love! I will be love. ... The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least of actions for love.'

Thank you ‘little flower’, St Thérèse of Lisieux. Through your intercession, may our suffering world be filled with charity and our hearts set ablaze with the love of Christ.

Today 30th of September we celebrate the Memorial of St Jerome who said, 'Ignorance pf Scripture is ignorance of Christ'. The most important work of his life was the translation of the Bible into Latin, a translation with some revisions, is still in use today.
On the memory of St Jerome, we would like to announce the start of the series Lectio: Prayer: Finding Intimacy with God, opening our hearts and minds to Scripture.
As we move into the last quarter of the year, and in preparation for Advent and Christmas, every Wednesday, 11th November to 16th December 2026 at 5pm, we begin the Lectio Prayer series at the Mansfield Catholic Parish Centre (Office).
In six video sessions, Lectio: Prayer: Finding Intimacy with God captures the secret to opening our hearts and minds to Scripture as the means to hear from God and then respond in conversation, basking in his presence and resolving to live in and through his love.
With the clear teaching and artistry of the Augustine Institute's Lectio series, Dr. Tim Gray masterfully uses the discipline of Lectio Divina to show you how to make prayer an effective effort of love and intimacy.
All are welcome.

Tuesday September 8th Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mass at 9.15am at St Francis Xavier's Mansfield with St Mary's Primary School Mansfield attending the Celebration.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Liturgical Commemoration. The Biblical canon does not record Mary's birth. The earliest known account of Mary's birth is found in Protoevangelium of James, an apocryphal text, with her parents known as Anne and Joachim, assumed to have been in circulation around 150 AD. All are welcome to this Celebration.
