Happy Father’s Day!!

We are so thankful to all the fathers, grandfathers and father figures in our lives! Thank you for all you do. We hope you enjoy being spoiled and celebrated today!

Today might be a hard day for some of us; we’re thinking of those who are missing their dads, longing to be dads, missing children or those who have difficult relationships with their fathers. We pray that you will know the comfort and faithfulness of the perfect Father, who loves us perfectly and unconditionally.

UNLEY TO ALICE 🌏🦘✈️

Last weekend, Karl, Mike, Ian, Susan, Deanna and Georgia went to Alice Springs as part of our partnership with Bush Church Aid 👏 They spent time with Alice Springs Anglican Church on their church camp, helping out with kids programs and in the kitchen, with Karl preaching some sermons for the congregation. The team’s goal was to enable the congregation and community in Alice Springs to spend time in God’s Word, learning more about who He is and growing in their relationships with Him! 🌏✈️🦘

We’re going to hear more about this incredible mission trip from some of the team this Sunday, but for now here’s a sneak peak of how they found this opportunity:

“Being in Alice Springs was eye-opening… in a good way. God is working powerfully in that part of the world. There are many needs in Alice Springs, but it was such a privilege to be part of the work of the church there and to see something of what God is doing through our mission partners.”

What an encouragement to see how our church can be on mission, not just in our community here but across the country 👏🙏 Why not have a think about whether you could serve on our Bush Church Aid Unley to Alice trip next year?

New series: KNOWING GOD

We’re starting our new series this Sunday, and you’re invited! Over the coming weeks we’ll be exploring some aspects of the doctrine of God. This week, we’ll be considering what it means not simply to know things about God, but to know God and to be known by God.

On Sunday, our ministry apprentice Tom took us through John 16:4-15, a passage where Jesus is preparing His disciples for His departure. At first it seems sad and confusing, and the disciples are consumed by their grief. Didn’t Jesus just command them to remain in Him? How can they do that, when He is leaving?

Tom helped us see that in God’s kindness, He gave the disciples the gift of His Holy Spirit, the Advocate! He will guide them into all the truth, expose the world’s sin against God and shine the spotlight on to Jesus.

And the Spirit does the same for us today. In Jesus’ physical absence on this earth, as we wait for His return, the Spirit guides us and exposes our sins. He helps us be transformed into the likeness of Jesus, and as a telescope reveals the glory of the stars, He makes the glory of the Son known to us.
