Hosea 10: 12 kjv
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Inspiration:
In Hosea's day, when Israel had gone after other gods, he cried out to them that it was time to repent and seek the LORD. And truly, it is always time to seek Him, for "today is the day of salvation. " There is no special time when men must come to God, but anytime that a person truly repents and believes. But those who delay and assume they will come tomorrow or later in life, risk their eternity.

Prayer:
Let us hear your voice today, O Lord, speaking through your Word, the illumination of Scripture by your Spirit. Shed light on the Word, or rather, shed light on our hearts and minds that we might understand it aright. Let us seek you today and not delay or make excuses. Amen.

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Inspiration:

Psalms 63:1 kjv
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Inspiration:
The Psalms are filled with references to thirst and water. Think of where the Bible was written. The Middle East is mostly deserts, so water is a precious commodity. The Lord sustains life, and with water being scarce, God giving his believers water is an apt metaphor that explains what His love does for us. It quenches and nourishes us when we most need it.

Prayer:
I am thirsty, my Lord, and I know that You will provide me, as You always have. Give me this day my daily bread, and allow me to drink from Your cup of faith. You are the only and one true God, and I rejoice in knowing You. I am humbled by this relationship, and pleased to know that with each day I become closer to You. Walk with me, O Lord, hand in hand, so that we may spread your love throughout the land. Amen.

Ephesians 6:4 kjv
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Inspiration:
Raising and training children in the "fear and admonition of the Lord" must be done with gentleness, love, and patience. We must discipline our children when they stray for their own good, but we should never mistreat them and "provoke them to wrath. " And the lack of godly training in their youth could itself be a cause of their wrath being kindled against us later in life.

Prayer:
O Lord, you have given many of us children to care for and train in your ways. This is our sacred duty, and we must not take it lightly. We cannot hand our children over to ungodly teachers and teachings. And we cannot expect them to listen to our talk but ignore our walk. Teach us, O Father, to be the fathers and mothers you would have us to be. Amen.

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

Inspiration:
We honour God by caring for the poor. Jesus took time to comfort the poor and gave clear instruction to us that we are to maintain this ministry. By helping others, we extend God’s love. When we neglect the needs of others, we are neglecting God. Thankfully, there are multiple ways to help those in need at home and abroad. Let us make it a priority to reach out to those who are in need today.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, it is an honour to be given the precious task to take care of those in need. Help us see all the opportunities you’ve laid out before us. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

Inspiration:
During Jesus' time, tombs were caves or rock piles scattered across the countryside. They were beautifully painted or washed with lime to appear white and clean. The tombs were lovely on the outside, but we know what rested within. Jesus calls the Isreal leaders hypocrites, stating they go above and beyond to appear flawless on the outside when darkness lived inside their hearts. They were not genuine in their worship and teachings to the people. We do not want to be hypocritical when witnessing for the Lord. We will continue to seek instruction as we mature in our faith and rid our hearts of sin.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, we do not want to appear hypocritical as we witness in Your name. Please strengthen our faith and guide us to maturity as we continue our walk with You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

For ye have not received the spirit of bo***ge again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Inspiration:
When in bo***ge to sin and under the curse of the Law, we had much to fear. Those who base their salvation on keeping the Law must keep it perfectly, but no one can. Judgment loomed over us every moment, and if we were not afraid, it was only because of our ignorance of the danger we were in. But Jesus "drank our Hell" and quenched God's fiery wrath against us, so that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we are no longer in bo***ge to fear of death or of eternal punishment. We know our future is securely based upon Your sacrifice for us. We can come to God the Father through You with confidence, and call him "Abba, Father." We rejoice in our new standing as Your sons and daughters! Amen

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Inspiration:
Jesus’ time on earth was a learning experience for all sides. Although God created everything, he had never experienced life as a mortal man. Knowing what He could gain from this experience, God sent his only son to us so that we could better understand Him. Trust in Jesus and be saved completely!

Prayer:
Precious God, You knew your son Jesus would die for us. We are sinners, and You chose to help us live a life that is more holy through the sacrifice of Your only begotten son. Forgive us for trespassing against You in the first place, O Lord! Today I pray that I may dutifully fulfill my obligation to You, by living in a godly and respectful way, carrying out Your commandments. I love You, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and all people as You have taught me. Thank you for loving me. Amen.

And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

Inspiration:
We make excuses for sin just like Adam and Eve. Sometimes we need to hide for a minute to convince ourselves we really didn’t do anything wrong or find someone else to blame for our disobedience. Some sins don’t appear to be hurting us right away making us think we can change on our own. Instead of trying to hide, let us come face to face with the God who loves us unconditionally. When we sincerely repent, He immediately wipes our sin away.

Prayer:
Father, please help us stop hiding our sin. We can repent sincerely because you love us unconditionally. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Inspiration:
It is not enough to simply hear God's word. We must obey the Word and use it as an instructional manual for how we should live our lives. When we follow the Lord's commands and live as Jesus did, others can tell we are different. This is how others know we are Christ followers – by the way we follow his teachings and put them into practice. If you are just listening to sermons and Bible verses but are not applying them to your life, you are not showing your love for God.

Prayer:
Dear God, I want others to know I put my faith in you and love you, so help me to put my beliefs into action. You have given us the best example of love with the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, and the Bible. Give me opportunities to show others your love by the way I live my life. Thank you, O Lord, for sending us your word and allow its truth to change our lives. May I abide in you all my days. In Jesus' name, amen.

Ephesians 6:4 kjv
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Inspiration:
This passage is one that I think is often overlooked: parents are often confused about what to do with their children. Paul realizes that the word of God is the most important and useful parenting tool of all. Parents should not feel exasperated by their children; they should instill a faith in God from an early age so that they will dutifully serve the Lord and the people.

Prayer:
Generous Abba Father, I am so grateful that You have never left my side. You have truly shown me the way, the path of righteousness, and have nurtured and cared for me in a gentle and tender way of the most loving Father. I pray that I can have the wisdom to behave similarly with my own children or with other people, to pass the wisdom and love of Your word out into the world, so that the light may shine brightly. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Jeremiah 10: 7 kjv
Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.

Inspiration:
Our God is the "King of Nations," setting up kings and removing them from power as He pleases. And He turns the hearts of kings as the rivers of water, whichever way he pleases. Though God allows many nations now to be ruled by ungodly leaders, their time will come to an end, and it will be found that even they, though unknowingly, furthered God's purposes.

Prayer:
You, O Lord, are King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The heathen nations may rage and wish to remove You, O Christ, from Your throne, but they cannot prevail. You will reign on the earth in righteousness. You will dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel (Psalm 2). But we will rejoice in Your sovereign rule, even now, while we pray for Your Kingdom to come. Amen
