This morning we wrapped up our learning on The Parable of Talents. God has given each of us special gifts, and we are called to use and grow them faithfully. Through discussions, and group activities, the children reflected on what their own “talents” might be—whether that’s being kind, helping others, being creative, or skills like sports and learning. We encouraged them to understand that every gift, big or small, has value and purpose.
With our younger group, this led to some thoughtful and engaging conversations—especially around sporting abilities. One question that stood out was, “How can you use footy or rugby for God?” This created a great opportunity for the children to think more deeply. As a group, they brainstormed ways such as teaching and encouraging others, showing teamwork and good sportsmanship, training hard and taking care of their bodies, praying for strength and protection, and remembering to thank God after each game. They also discussed how praising God isn’t just for winning—but something we can do in both victory and loss.
This naturally led us into our second theme: joy in faithful stewardship. The children learned that a good servant takes joy in using what they’ve been given in a way that honours God. We talked about how our attitude matters—not just what we do, but how and why we do it. Are we using our gifts to bring glory to God? Are we grateful for what we have?
It has been a meaningful and encouraging topic, helping the children see how their everyday actions, interests, and abilities can all be used as part of their faith journey.
