If you’ve never been to an Anglican church service before, you might wonder: What happens inside? What should I wear? Will I know what to do?
We want you to know there is absolutely no pressure. At St. Andrew’s, our worship follows a beautiful, historic rhythm designed to give you peace, space, and a direct connection to God.
If you are thinking of joining us for the first time, here is exactly what to expect:
🌿 There is no strict dress code here. You will see people in their Sunday best sitting right next to people in jeans and a t-shirt. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.
🧭 Anglican worship is interactive; we stand to sing, sit to listen, and kneel or sit to pray. If that sounds confusing, don't worry! Everything you need to say or do is laid out clearly right in front of you on screen, or in your prayer book, which one of our doorkeepers will happily show you.
🕊️ Our service balances beautiful hymns, Bible readings, a thoughtful sermon, and prayers for our world and the Lismore community. At the heart of our service is Holy Communion. If you are a baptised Christian of any tradition, you are welcome to receive communion. If not, you are warmly invited to come forward for a blessing, or simply remain seated and enjoy the quiet music.
☕ Worship doesn't end when the organ stops playing. We love to gather in the parish hall afterward for a fresh cuppa, a biscuit, and a genuine chat.
It’s the perfect, relaxed space to meet people and feel at home.
No matter where you are on your journey of faith; whether you are full of questions, looking for a community, or just seeking a quiet space to sit at God's table, there is a place saved for you this weekend.
