The North Shore Synagogue The North Shore Synagogue (NSS) is a welcoming, all-inclusive Modern Orthodox community

The North Shore Synagogue (NSS) is a welcoming, all-inclusive Modern Orthodox community. Known as the Garden Synagogue" because of its beautiful surroundings, it was, in 1947, the first synagogue to be established on Sydney's North Shore. It still is an integral part of Sydney's Jewish community over 75 years later.

As well as its regular services, The North Shore Synagogue has Bar and Bat Mitzv

ah programs, regular functions and events to celebrate Jewish holidays and festivals, such as Purim celebrations, a Pre-Pesach Shabbat Dinner, a Shavuot Tikkun Leil, and much more.

Led by Rabbi Paul Lewin, Chazan Zvi Teichtahl and President Mironne Golan, the community is happy to welcome new families and guests to its congregation in the leafy suburb of Lindfield.

Chag Shavuot Sameach! חג שבועות שמח

*Worldviews and ways of life in Australia*

ANU researchers are exploring how perceptions and ways of thinking (i.e. worldviews) relate to experiences and ways of living (i.e. participation and inclusion) in Australia.
They are seeking respondents for their online anonymous 15-20 min survey from any and all adult Australian citizens and permanent residents living in Australia.
Please make sure you are represented in this meaningful research by completing this fascinating survey and also forwarding it to any others who may be interested. There are $100 vouchers to be won if you complete it!
Access the survey here (https://anu.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0Ao5q9gu3ysrbVQ) in English or Tiếng Việt or ਪੰਜਾਬੀ or 简体中文 or 繁體中文 or العربية.
Any questions can be emailed to the researchers ([email protected]). Thanks so much!

We invite our community to come together for our ANZAC Day Commemoration Service & Sit-Down Kiddush.

Together, we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served, and reflect on the contribution of Australia’s Jewish servicemen and women.

Featuring a special insight from Peter Allen on Operation Jacob and Australia’s Jewish Diggers.

19/03/2026

The annual Yom Hashoah Holocaust remembrance events hosted by the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies will take place on Monday 13 April at an Eastern Suburbs location, and Tuesday 14 April at a North Shore location.

This year, our theme will be Survivors in Australia: Rebuilding Lives. We will focus on the remarkable journeys of Holocaust survivors who came to Australia after the war. Arriving often with little more than hope and determination, they rebuilt their lives, raised families, and helped shape the vibrant Australian Jewish community we know today. Their contributions to Australian society—in business, education, culture, science, and community life—have left an enduring legacy.

Through their stories of survival, rebuilding, and contribution, we reflect not only on the past but also on the responsibility we carry forward: to remember, to honour their legacy, and to ensure that their experiences continue to educate and inspire future generations.

We invite you to attend the commemoration in person:
