The Funeral of Fr. Dmytro Seniw will be celebrated with a

PRIESTLY PARASTAS
on Monday, 7 September 2026 at 6.30 pm
and
FUNERAL DIVINE LITURGY
on Tuesday, 8 September 2026 at 10.00 am

at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral
35 Canning Street, North Melbourne, VIC 3051.

All the faithful are invited to attend and join us in prayer for the repose of Fr. Dmytro. May the Risen Lord grant him eternal rest, and may his memory be eternal!

"The Church needs to learn to breathe again with its two lungs – its Eastern one and its Western one" - Pope Saint John Paul II

Today we welcomed Year 6 students from five local Catholic schools for the Eastern Catholic Pilgrimage for Sydney Catholic Schools. At St Andrew’s, students stepped into the beauty of the Byzantine tradition, exploring the layout of our Church, the meaning behind our sacred iconography, and the role of the iconostas in our liturgical life. Pilgrimage Coordinator Markian Stefanychyn and clergy guided students through the rich symbolism of our architecture, designed to lift the heart toward heaven.

A deeply moving moment came as students received a blessing with the relic of St Andrew the First‑Called Apostle, connecting them to the ancient apostolic roots of our Ukrainian Catholic faith. We are grateful for the curiosity, reverence, and joy the students brought into our parish today. May this encounter strengthen their understanding of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, lived vibrantly in the Eastern tradition.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that today, 23 August, Fr Dmytro Seniw passed into eternal life at the age of 86.

Fr Dmytro passed away in the 60th year of his priestly ministry, having devoted almost six decades of his life to the service of God and His people.

We ask you to remember Fr Dmytro in your prayers and to pray for the repose of his soul.

Details of the funeral services will be announced in due course.
